no. this does not enable unsigned code, system patches, etc.
now if you are saying:
assume the device
1) works as advertised
2) is flexible/configurable enough b/c the unit itself should be "open"
then it is certainly feasible that a web-interface that acted a lot like a coverflow could be developed for your handheld or your PC. (x360key provides web service to your home network with a good dhtml/ajax interface served up that a web-aware device [smartphone/tablet/PC] could use).
all that interface's server side would/could do, then, is to send an eject tray command, mount the appropriate image, and close the tray. nothing like a jtag.
