I'm getting the image of the people in the infomercials who struggle to open the bag of chips and then spill them all over the place lol. Seriously though, I don't get it. I do this for free every day in about 30 sec with hddhackr. I don't see how it could possibly be faster. It's kinda redundant isnt it? Like putting your bathrobe on backwards and calling it a snuggie. Now, if it was standalone, it might be worth a dogs fart
So before you could do it in windows? on any 32 bit or 64 bit version ? over usb ? with a laptop or netbook or macosx ?
This is 2011. If you are happy with DOS then great - that's your call and your choice. In the meantime the rest of us like to move forwards not backwards.
You also say you do this for "free" every day ? You don't charge a dime for doing it then ? My guess is you are upset (as usual at anything TX does) as now all your potential customers can do this easily themselves without any kind of real technical know-how - that's the real issue here

You know, usually I'm not too keen on the people who complain about when X company releases Y tool saying it's useless or etc, but this seriously is useless.
It's just a damn USB to SATA adapter that goes for $20 at online retailers!
Congrats on being completely clueless. You really think this is "just a USB 2 SATA" ? Do ya ? If you can hack all of the 360 DVD drives and the 360 HDD's using just any USB 2 SATA that you can buy off the shelf right now (excluding the X360USB PRO of course) I will give you $10,000. Naturally I want something in return - so when you find you can't do that and that you have absolutley no idea what you are talking about - I want you to come back here and give a big fat apology and admit to everyone that you are a total dipshit. Deal ?
QUOTE(lord^infamous @ Apr 24 2011, 08:01 AM)

The only useful feature this has compared to HddHackr that makes it worth while is the fact that they are claiming you can use "any off-the-shelf 2.5″ SATA Hard Drive". Specialist has said "It is a lot of work to convert this tool for usage with other brands and don't think it is worth the trouble." I could see that changing in the near future. I'm not knocking team x but they are the kings of taking an idea and making it a sellable product. I would do the same if I had the means.
that and the fact you can now do it in Windows, on 32bit or 64bit, over USB, on netbooks or laptops and macosx too, in seconds without any messing around. That's pretty useful too I'd imagine.

I'm betting that
'any off the shelf HDD' means:
'Any off the shelf HDD (as long as it's WD green as we really only ripped off hddhakr's code) 'Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I was hoping to try-out a SSD (even though the standard of sata supported by the 360 mobo is likely not able to utilise speeds over 7200rpm etc..) It would be nice to know my data is safe(r )
But I'm not willing to risk bricking a 300$ drive when a cursory glance of the supported list on their site mirrors Haddhakr's
Still waiting for my x360's cover, I held -off ordering it so as to get one with a cover, and they delayed it about another 5 times before shipping it without any cover! Our local distributor was kind enough to throw-in a 'probe 3' (PMT probe) not that we needed one or could use it (as we make our own form of ck3 that don't have a socket) I was happy to see that they had finally figured-out that heat-shrink is a good thing, but noticed that it hadn't been shrunk properly(nor did it go to the connector to provide strain-relief

) and that the switch wasn't functional at all! (haven't u guys heard of QA?) I also noted they have sanded the tops of all the active components on the PCB! How are we (of 'the scene') meant to be able to develop for it, if we don't even know what chips are there? Any reverser worth their salt would be able to guess/figure it out easily, so there's not really any excuse! I'm starting to regret having gone for the x360 usb over the(pricey) Max Lizzard, as it would appear they are far more interested in cashing-in (by spoon-feeding the noobz or other cost-cutting means) than providing/developing new tech! I would have thought they would have their '0225' write solution out there by now also. Don't get me wrong here, I have always had respect for Xecuter and often cringe when I read posts that Xecuter-bash , but the direction they seem to be taking(lately) in terms of the easiest/cheapest way-out instead of losing a little of their margin(or taking a small risk by releasing info) to produce a better product, is worrying. If this trend keeps-up we won't be able to keep recommending/supporting their products. It's good to see them adding new features for the x360, but this just seems like a hollow marketing tool for their product (which according to them doesn't need any marketing) by porting hddhakr to win32 with their API, I haven't seen ANY credit to Modfreakz! Maybe there's a good reason for that ;-) Perhaps they could have gone the whole hog and integrated party-buffalo's drive explorer end rant\
1. Have you asked for your case from your reseller ? They have ALL been shipped them - for free - for a few weeks now. You should poke them with a stick and get your case sorted.
2. There were no delays of shipping. Your reseller or whoever you bought it from lied to you or you didn't read the actual real updates given by the manufacturers. In fact there was 1 official date given and the large shipments started just 3 days after that date. All this was on www.x360usb.com as it was happening. Everyone was kept in the loop and completely aware of shipping schedules.
3. See my previous comments re: credits. That sort of thing just illustrates many guys who post here do so on knee jerk reactions without actually reading anything or having a clue about the facts - this is not surprising in any way.
4. TX donated a sizable donation to Lander who coded the party buffalo app as they felt he did a very good job with his app and wanted to encourage it's development. TX do this every week many times to many developers of tools that help the scene. In fact they've done thousands of times for 10 years now. They are a business sure, but they also help finance and drive many many projects that they have absolutley no affiliation with, but support as sceners themselves. For years they've given to the scene however most of the newcomers have no knowledge or memory of the real history of the Xbox scene and those who drove it forward. i doubt TX gives a shit though - they get paid after also so i'm sure its a big yawn, albeit an amusing one.
5. Regarding the X360USB PRO IC's - 2 of them are custom made so of course the security is valued. Would you spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars on developing a tool without implementing some kind of security to protect that investment. The irony is not lost on me btw

You also made a comment of "how is the scene supposed to develop for it" - the scene already does develop for it - ever heard of Team Xecuter, Team Jungle and C4E ?

- That's why its so good and that's why you bought it.
6. You said the Probe 3 was not functional. Lucky for you you have a warranty - so send it back and get a new one (you got yours for free I see - maybe the reseller was just palming you off ? I don't know). I think almost 50k pcs of Probe 3 was the last count made that have shipped - a few dozen returns due to shipping damage or human error. That's a much better error percentage than companies like.....Microsoft

Seriously though - errors happen - but thats why TX offers a full warranty on all its products - you can't beat a good old fashioned guarantee.
7. For you to suggest that (lately) Xecuter seem to be taking the easy/cheapest way out? That is total nonsense to be fair. Every TX product I've ever had is high quality and doesn't skimp in anyway on costs. I know for a fact they just spent over $20,000 on the case mold for a new upcoming product to make sure it was "high street quality" - as all their products are. If you want to talk about cutting corners - TX aren't the ones selling a $120 product that costs $11.50 for the parts (the BOM has already been laid out and proven) and is 4 months into its release and still doesn't do half of what was claimed and the things it can do 20x slower and more cumbersome. This isn't bashing and making up stuff - this is a fact.
8. It's a shame that you seem to have little idea of the advanced technology that is behind the x360usb pro. Because it's made to look easy and simple - doesn't mean what goes under the hood is anything but. If you think that any professional installer would think that the slow and clumsy lizard works better for than the rock solid & incredibly fast x360usb pro - then i couldn't possibly comment further. If pressing buttons 60 times and taking 5 minutes to flash a drive that should be done in 4 clicks and 30 seconds, regardless of if its standalone or not (which I do not deny is pretty cool as a concept but useless if its execution is poor - which in this case it totally is) - then you should get a lizard if you think thats better than what the X360USB PRO offers. There is a reason there are retailers who are still stuck with their first shipment of lizards from 2 months ago and they are on there 6th shipment of X360USB PRO's. It works. Its solid. Its fast as hell. Its supported by the best developers inc C4 and the manufacture quality is top shelf with a fully backed warranty - and at a great price. If that doesn't make someone happy then there is nothing else that anyone can do but to wish that person luck and move along.
QUOTE(warbeast @ Apr 24 2011, 10:28 AM)

another pointless item! if you have the cash to throw large amounts at a usb to sata why not just put it towards a real ms hdd
hddhakr was designed to save people money from silly micosoft prices not to give companys a way to also cash in plus i think even a modder would see this as lost profit because it really isnt that hard to do for free
This is a free tool for current X360USB PRO owners, of which there are tens of thousands now. You clearly have no clue or concept on what this product is and what it can do
