hmm
I have got a xtractor pro and Spear
is there anyway to mod these two so I can use them for other drives? (say slim for the future?)

So far all existing methods seem to permanenty mod the xtractor by adding a voltage directly to the drive pin. I wonder if I plug it straight into another non-lite-on dvd-drive is it going to break/fry it?

for non-liteon, the switch on pin 6 must be ON
the 3.3 V is needed and normally always there on PIN6
for Liteon it must be switched off to read the key

I recommend making mods to the cable only on your xtractor. Especially if you're not good at cutting traces/soldering. Look at the diagram that was posted on page 13.  Connect your switch for the 3.3v to the correct wire. Then make you a probe using a pin by connecting to the ground wire. If you want to use your spear then clip it to the spear instead of soldering it. That way your xtractor is still intact and no risk of damaging it.

Plus if you mess up the drive cable you can always buy another one fairly cheap.

Does the ground for the pin have to come from the ground wire or can you do like the guy earlier in this thread (post #172, pg 12) and just clip the ground to your xbox?

Just curious.

I made mine last night.  No need to ruin any probe device.  make your own.

Supplies needed:
1.  Switch
2.  XBOX 360 DVD power cable
3.  Safety Pin or sewing needle or pogo pin if you have any.
4.  20-24 Gauge wire(you can use any you want, but I wanted something a little thicker since its going to move around more.  I find 28-30 gauge wire to weak and breaks easy)
5.  Electrical tape.
6.  Shrink tubing

Cost $5ish

Tools needed:
1.  Wire stripper
2.  Wire snips
3.  Solder iron and solder
4.  Hot Glue gun

Bought this at Radio Shack

http://www.radioshac...oductId=2062544

IPB Image

notice the notches on top of your DVD power connector and the picture above.

Figure out which wire is for pin 6 by looking at the picture above.

I cut it at half length.

Then soldered the wires to the legs on the switch for pin 6 which is 3.3v

Then figure out the wire for pin 5.

At about the center I took my wire stripper and stripped the wire a little bit.

Then I took a piece of 22 gauge wire about 8-10 inches long and wrapped it around the wire I exposed with my stripper.

Then I soldered the wire to the exposed area for maximum durability.

Then I had a large safety pin.  I cut it, but I held the side with the sharp pin with a pair of pliers so it wouldn't fly off when I cut it and so I didn't have it fly up in my eye or something.

Then I soldered the the pin to the 22 gauge cable.  Covered with a few heat shrink tubes and shrunk them down.

Then I took hot glue and covered my exposed solder points, taped a bunch of stuff together in the center of the wires, basically i just taped the wires all together in the center and made sure to cover any area I soldered to with hot glue and tape first before taping the whole area.  Then when I was done, I made a big ball of hot glue and taped it next to my switch on the cable so I can poke into it with the needle so it has a safe place to be when in storage so its not just hanging out.

Make sure to test your PMT before taping everything together.

1. CK3 Main Power ON, 3.3v Switch ON
2. Press PhatKey, then Yes
3. 3.3v Switch OFF, connect GND wire to MPX01, 3.3v Switch ON
4. After "Extract Complete" disconnect GND from MPX01, CK3 main Power OFF. Wait 5 seconds.
5. CK3 Main Power ON, press OK.
6. Done!

Yes you can see my post above.  Just need a DVD cable, a switch and a safety pin or needle.

can you make a picture of your tutorial ???
thanks

I didn't take any pictures when i was doing it.

Get the switch I linked to at radioshack.  It only has 2 prongs at the bottom of it.
Its really easy.  Look at the picture that shows the power connectors and notice how the notches on top the connector are.

Now find the wire for pin 6.

Follow that wire and cut it in the center.  Use wire stripper to strip the 2 ends of the wire.  Put the switch in between where you made your cut by soldering the wires to the 2 prongs at each end of the wire you cut.

Then only strip the wire for pin 5 around the middle of the cable.  Get a longer piece of wire and solder that to the exposed stripped area.  I wrapped mine around the wire a few times, then soldered.  At the end of that wire solder your needle or cut off safety pin etc.  Cover that with something to prevent you from touching the needle and leave the end exposed. I used shrink tubing to cover it.

Just thought id throw my quick capacitor-less homejob in here, actually wasnt really quick but this is the first time i made somethin like this i normally just buy the hardware.
Anyway here she is

http://i584.photobuc...ey/DSC00053.jpg

http://i584.photobuc...ey/DSC00052.jpg

All i used is some spare plugs & wires i had left over from some pc fans i had lying round an x360 J1D1 dvd cable and a needle and of course powered with my Maximus Xtractor.

I just soldered the needle onto the end of the wire pushed it back through the plug heat shrinked it soldered it onto the GND then i put 2 fan plugs as the switch (done at 3am so used what i had) am goin to put a proper switch on when the stores open, and thats pretty much it.

Works perfectly and a hell of alot faster than MRA

1. Seeing as im using VIA still i hooked all my sata & power up.
2. In JF my drive properties were already showing so i hit PhatKey
3. Since i am powering with xtractor i left power on my xtractor unplugged my plugs/switch then i probed MPX01 and while holding the probe i plugged the plugs back in (bit of a mission with one hand) and left the probe on
4. Got my 0x52 status then lifted my probe off (got a bit of a spark from hitting another point on the way off lol)
5. Put my probe down unplugged my plugs waited 5 seconds, plugged back in & hit OK, got the prompt, saved my dummy files.
6. Then proceeded with normal flashing as per previous JF.

Worked like a charm, Im loving seeing all these new ideas coming out & i know people have probably posted this a thousand times but im reasonably proud of my work and hopefully a newbie out there will try my guide.

With the Vampire there you can do it the same way!

How can a PMT be tested without testing it on a Lite-On drive (for safety)? I just made mine but I have not have a Lite-On drive at this moment.

Help Anyone???Im trying to get this down packed...and after i learn this Im goin to do a step by step tutorial for a lot better explanation.Im making it right now as I type....Im going to upload some pics to show yall how much progress I have done so far....Thanks,,,Pic coming soon....Step for step...I already have a spare practice board for a lite on drive so this would be great training...

Just a quick one. Does the pogo mo thoin probe do the 7,8 & 9 series liteon, or do you still need the serial cable to do the 7 series?

All lite-on's can be done this way.
