as a modder that does this alot i have to say this.
If you have the correct setup then these tools just might be a extra toy to add to your tool box.
i myself will just wait a bit to see what comes out of this

a no solder no cut will be great but i do all my lite on drives that i get in with MRA takes about 10 mins to set it all up DUMP and then REFLASH total time spent is less then 25 mins flashing and putting back together.
Now if i can have a no solder no cut with no EXTRA TOOLS needed then i might just JUMP up and down and grab one right now but guess what it says it needs some TOOL so what does mean i need to more or less do like a MRA type or some type of key extractor then count me out because thats worthless to me.

the part that makes this better then the team x version of there is no computer needed.
this makes it portable and flash any drive on the go. But again if there is some need for a MRA hack or something then it kind of makes it worthless to me lol

i will just wait it out see where everything goes. till then im saying with my current setup that flashes everything under the sun smile.gif

I believe there is a computer needed, in order to manipulate the firmware. It's just the reading/writing that can be done without a PC.

I wanted to get a lizard but seeing as its not even released yet and they FORCE you to buy a new accessory just to get no-soldering on lite-on drives is disgusting, they could easily include it into the kit, and this seems to be setting the trend for future releases , there probably going to sell a "accessory" for every new drive that gets released, and most likely even if its not needed...

Ill stick to my Nforce 4 mobo and home made power adapter and serial interface THANK YOU smile.gif

you obviously didnt pay close enough attention to details.. it says that inclusion of the new accessory is up to the retailer.. IE: vgcrepairs included the probe accessorie and the scroption accessorie in their preorder shippments at NO COST xtra to the pre order customer..

yes i did see some retailers charging an xtra 5-10 bucks.. but it depends on WHO you know and WHO you trust..

Not sure why the OP posted this same thread I always posted before him here:

Mods could have just moved my thread if it was posted in the wrong section (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I really can't see to many people buying this most people will choose the xecuter usb over this because of price.

yeah and with teamX's you'll still have to make cuts, until they buy a maximux lizard and steal the idea.

Those that are being put off by the cost have to realize that it's actually more expensive to go with xecuter when you take the power supply and probe into consideration.   say $60 for the X360USB Pro (Pre-order price), $40 for the CK3 Pro, and another $17 for the V2 Probe, before shipping that's already $117.  Whereas the 360Lizard is $100 (Pre-order price) before shipping.

Personally, I don't think I'll be purchasing this until it's clear how the No-Cut solution works... If there's a chance that it alters the FW in any way, then I think I'll stay clear. If they've found a way to bypass the cuts physically, then I'll probably purchase one.

As for the Slim support... as far as I can tell, the drives that will be flashable using the X360USB, will also be flashable using the Lizard / Accessories... because from what I've read, these drives will be flashable using software only.

What you need to flash your Slim:

[2011-01-25 10:02AM UTC] #fw <JayZ_> So c4 will the 95 drive be hacked with only software
[2011-01-25 10:02AM UTC] #fw <c4eva> yes

Something important to keep in mind... the X360USB Pro is just a means to bypass SATA compatibility problems and to make flashing somewhat portable.  There isn't yet a No-Cut solution... you will still use the same method's you've previously used to flash your drives, the only difference however, is that you will connect the drive using the USB adapter as opposed to your SATA card/onboard device.

The Lizard is a bit more unique... however, I don't know how I feel about using this in place of Jungleflasher and all of its support.

Stll, it would be very interesting to see if it's something other than the MRA method, or at least something that could be done with a homemade piece of hardware.

Considering what I've read, I don't think it will be. I think it will just be another probe that does the MRA hack only no cutting traces & no soldering.

I assume this tool will still require exposing traces for probing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was effectively the MRA method, just with a piece of hardware that somehow eliminates the need for cutting.

If you are already needing to expose traces and pins, it doesn't seem like that much more effort to cut and solder. Especially for someone who would buy something like this, as they would generally be people that do many and are experienced enough to handle it.

They are meant to be releasing the details today.

What are you on crack?  If you just probe something its definitely less time consuming then having to solder and repair traces..

ok heres the deal. next week, i'll post a vid of my 6 year old daughter  flashing a lite on 9 from start to finish. nobody has even been in the same ballpark as maximus on this thing. of course we are a little cautious after the last time we were duped with a no-solder solution, when tx tried to tell us to superglue the board. regardless of what they say, it will take at least a month or 2 before anyone can duplicate a WORKING copy. I guarantee they will have it copied in a couple weeks, but it wont be dumping any keys.
