Hello, I've been lurking the forums for a while now and it's been very helpful, but now I've ran across a problem I can't solve. I have a post-RROD xbox. It looks like someone has repaired it before, when I got it in my hands it had no thermal paste and it looks like someone gave up on it. So I did the X-clamp fix and heatgunned the HANA/GPU area and it booted right up.
I do not know how the condition was before RROD with the controllers but when I try to add a controller I do this:
I turn on controller and xbox
I press then sync button on the xbox
I press and hold the sync button on the controller
They recognize each other and start blinking in sync
Soon they start blinking out of sync
The xbox stops blinking and displays no green light in the first quarter
The controller just keeps blinking all four quarters until I remove the battery
Now what I've tried is:
Searching the forums (IMG:

Two wireless controllers
One wireless controller with plug and play kit
One wired controller
Tried two RF daughterboards
Held the xbox sync button for 30 seconds then turning off and on again.
It has no HDD connected and nothing additional.
Here are two high-res photos of the board itself. I can't see that the person that previously fixed it made any trace cuts or bumped any capacitor/resistor off.

What do I try next?
I have a 350°/500° celcius heat gun and soldering stuff.
