Dvd Drive Help

ok so here's the issue i have a xbox i just fixed from the rrod it was working fine then it over heated so i decided to get another fan in there i took the fan and put the red and black wires into the white piece of the dvd drive on the mother board then pressed it into the board i forgot to stick the dvd drive back in cuz i was testing the fan to see if it worked an it worked left it running for a bit to see if it would keep it cooler and it did i was happy but then i saw it wasn't plugged in so i plugged it in while it was on Ive tried removing the fan replugging it in it just wont open or close and it wont read but i hear it working and it was working before it over heated again so any suggestion do you thing the drive is bad or the cord i mean its running so its working just not opening closing or reading could i have messed it up by sticking a fan in there if you need more specifics let me know thanks

where did u get power for fans ? can u post a picture ? unplug ur fans and just connect ur dvd drive and test it see if it works or not just don't connect dvd drive and make sure u don't connect wrong wires or pins to each other ! it's most likely 3.3v pin is missing in drive or have a problem just make sure u don't connect anything wrong ! triple check everything !!!
