Question: Rrod X-clamp Fix
« on: August 31, 2010, 07:52:00 AM »

So I'm performing the X-Clamp fix for the first time. I'm following the llamma.com tutorial. However, I don't think I used the right drill bit. I used the right size ... it just didn't deburr the metal in the case. So I'm afraid of putting it back together in this way. I'm sure the fix would still work but not for long. So basically ... how do I remove the metal scraps that are sticking out of the metal case? Would this work? http://www.amazon.com/Noga-Heavy-Duty-Debu...2651&sr=8-2 or should I keep trying to scratch off the metal  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleeping.gif)

Any expertise would be appreciated ...

Probably the fastest way is to simply use a dremel with a sanding bit attached. If you don't have a dremel, then just do it by hand with a few stages of sandpaper, start off with 60 grit, jump up to 80 grit and then finish with 120 grit.

How many times do I have to say this to people
Dont do any type of x clamp fix besides the hybrid fix because they cause unneeded stress on the board.
And on the little bits of metal just use sand paper

Ah just sandpaper? Sweet.

@Jimbobjoeyman, first time you've told me!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  Is it bad enough I should get another chassis and redo it?

I doubt you will need a new chasis cos the hybrid fix screws go up through the chasis and they are the same diameter as the ones your already using.
to fix your 360 properly go to www.xbox-experts.co.uk
go to tutoriols (sp?)
look up oven bake oven reflow hybrid ultimate x clamp replacement fan shroud mod and 12 v fan mod do all of them in that order and you will have a very solid 360.
OH and I forgot the most important part of the fix go to my youtube channel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
If you dont the fix wont work lol ;D
