I like the way they say "The first modded 2010 250 GB xbox 360 system
from solomods.com" on their website. Nice, but who will be the first to say "The first flashed DVD drive of the 2010 250 GB xbox 360 system"?   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Looks like a standard SATA cable going to that HDD. So i'm positive its a 2.5 standard disc drive

QUOTE(sith @ Jun 17 2010, 08:37 PM) *

Now tell me is it really a "proprietary HDD" or is it a standard 2.5'' drive in a "proprietary Shell" as was the original 360....

seems awfully cost-ineffective to create a new type of non flash-based (magnetic) storage for a machine that doesn't need it.

It's just a standard HDD. I have no proof of that, but using common sense and looking at the pics, I'd bet my left bollock on it.

I'll take that bet.

Those are standard sata connections.  I doubt MS would go through the effort/money to make a new/proprietary harddrive.  Looks like plugging it into a computer will be no problem at all.

Can someone provide a close-up of the MTK chip?? That would be VERY-handy. I would hazard a guess they've made some mods themselve's.. Of course the internal HDD will be chinese/thai/ manufactured standard 2.5" SATA but with Xbox formatting, and probably BIOS flashed info (Like the WD thing , perhaps new SS style - or something else that would make it difficult for companies like Datel - following their lega precedent)

X clamps are good in concept, That CPU/GPU wouldn't generate hardly any heat anyway..... No RROD's at all would be my prediction, The ODD does have new Laser-carrige implying Liteon have made all-new drive specifically for this project (Maybe less vendor commands too  unsure.gif )

Anyway, getting that drive PCB photo would be invaluable right now.....

I know I have not posted much on the site for the amount I have been here but I am not like alot of people who just post without searching, usually I find what I need without having to post.

Anyway back on topic. Can anyone test and confirm it they still have region lock dvd drive's. I guess they do but would it not be a smart move for M$ to do a region free drive as their competitor has all along.

The hdd internet connector does look to sturdy, I mean push the hdd in and out a few time and it look like it may come loose or break. Without seeing or feeling how it is secured I can only go by looks.

Great pic's and hopefully someone works out how to mod this bad boy quite quickly  as I have mine in 3 weeks time.

I just got one today and it is a standard 2.5" HDD sata connection. I have started to take mine apart but I am away from the house for the next few months and got stuck at the torx screws. Try to get one tommorow if anyone wants some specific pics

Does the fan blow or suck air on the RIGHT grill?

The fan sucks air away from the heatsink.

My number 1 concern with the design would be the HANA chip. It seems to be a little stiffled and unlike the old design its not directly in the path of airflow. It might be hard to judge from pics alone, but knowing how hot the HANA gets, I'd like to see some thermal testing on it.

Bottom left under the DVD drive is a black round circle. Is that a stopper for the drive to rest on or a piezo buzzer?

Where do you see the HANA?  The chip in the middle of the board is the southbridge, not HANA.
