Has Error Code 0020-0021 Been Figured Out Yet?
« on: June 12, 2010, 03:29:00 PM »

I know one is a dvd issue.  I never flashed this dvd, but I have a feeling if I do it will fix the problem.  It alternates between 20 and 21.  Have these been figured out to a 100% certainty yet?  I redid the xclamps and did the heat gun trick and made sure to over heat with the hair dryer too (this worked to make it work after E74.

Should I flash the dvd and see if that works?  Would you?

0020 is definately GPU related, since doing the X-clamp fix there solved it for me.
0021 is, since you mention that one of the two errors is the DVD drive, probably the DVD drive.

It's either the GPU or the GPU, but possibly could be the GPU, if not then definitely the GPU.

After your done causing more damage with TRICKS, get the GPU reflowed.

0020 = GPU not getting power, or is being shorted out. A hair dryer will do absolutely nothing, and a heat gun typically does nothing, or it kills your 360. It is quite possible to reflow the GPU with a heat gun, but you also need a preheater for the entire board, some thermocouples, and a "real" heat gun (multiple speed/temperature settings).

Agreed.   Most of the time when I CAN Repair 0020 by Reflow it's the GPU. It can also be related to bridged solder under the GPU and can be short out like the guy above stated.

I am with him on the heat guns. I'm ANTI-Heat gun/Oven methods!!  If you want it to last, send it in for a professional Reflow before you do more damage than good and then you will HAVE to buy another one!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
