Hard Drive Backup/clone

I have a recently banned 360 and want to make a copy of my hard drive for offline play. Can I copy my 20 GB drive to my pc then using the tranfer cable move my DLC and game saves to my new 60 Gb drive then when done restore my data from the PC to the 20 Gb drive for offline play? Is it possile to transfer personal info like this with out a J-tagged machine?
