Error 0002
« on: April 01, 2010, 09:38:00 PM »

So i had a board that had the 0002 error on it.  found out it could be the mosfets near the cpu, or the controller chip on the bottom side of the board under the memory card slots.  I replaced the mosfets with one that i pulled off another board that i attempted to downgrade firmware(dont ask).  put that on there, it was still giving me the 0002 rrod error.  so i attempted to switch the controller chip, got it pulled off fine, and even cleaned up the board, put a new one on.  Now... when i hit the power button the light will stay on for about a second, then the system will turn off.  Any idea on what that could be??  nothings bridged, and i think i put the chip on right... lol

sure, what exactly would u like a pic of??  i dont have a camera where i can get high res pix.  i could try using a scanner... lol

after i posted this, i verified that i put the controller chip on the board right, and it is on right.  im thinking it might be an issue with the mosfets still... ive got new ones coming in the mail, so when i get those swapped out, hopefully i can get this to work right.  I pulled the controller chip off a board that I picked up with the drive key lost, and accidentally updated it to 8955.

so heres an update.  i got some replacement mosfets in the mail, as well as that controller chip thats on the bottom of the board, when i first installed them, the system would power on then off right away, went and reflowed the chip i just put on it, now its powering up, giving me a rrod immediately with 0001.  Ive tried 3 different power adapters, so i dont think its the power brick(all 3 power bricks are good on separate consoles).  is there a chance that the chip that i put on the bottom of the board is bad??  or any other ideas on other things i can try???
