why dont you just measure it....

the thermal pads on the ram chips underneath touch the metal cage...making that their heatsink.

Thermal pads are not the best at conducting thermal energy though....especially true when they are that thick.

The "Penny Trick" is really just a "heatsink"

use whatever heatsink you can find that will fit and you'll be fine, although don't expect that much of a difference.

In this case it is just "pinching pennies"
