Help! Screen Goes Black In Battlefield: Bad Company 2
« on: March 23, 2010, 05:03:00 PM »

I have a problem with my xbox 360 while playing battlefield: bad company 2. When the game goes to a cut scene, the screen goes black.

During this time, I have normal audio and I can even press the center xbox button on the controller to access the main menu (where I can successfully go back to dashboard), but I don't see anything on the screen. I can even move my character (blindly) but it seems like either the cut scene does not load properly and the screen goes black. I can't even try to exit out of the cut scene by pressing select.

I think it attempts to go to cut scene but fails so it just stays in the game but the screen goes black just like normally it would right before it cutting to a video scene.

What is weird is that if I restart the game, sometimes the cut scene it went black on previously will actually load properly and sometimes it wont.

I have had this xbox for a while and have had no problems with it in the past. I know the xbox isn't frozen because I can go right back to dashboard if I want to and there is no error that pops up. All other games still play fine and I have tried my friend's copy of the game and it does not work with his copy either.

I am using component cables.

Also, when I first played the game, it applied an update that is required to play the game. I even cleared the HDD cache and it hasn't help (although, it hasn't asked me to apply the update again which I assumed it would since I cleared the cache).

Anybody else having trouble with this? Please help!

THANKS

Are you running the game off the DVD or the HDD?

I'm running it off the DVD but the xbox won't let me copy it onto the HDD for some reason.

Hmm that ia weird... Is the disc scratched at all??

If not, could be a bad press of the game dvd or the game itself - does this happen at the exact same time, every time?

What TV set do you own? (HD ready, Full HD?) and what AV output did you choose on your XBOX?

So, when it goes black, does the audio continue to play?
And are you running an original or burn?

No, it isn't scratched and my friend's disk gives me the same problem.

It is full HD and I use component out.  This is the first time this problem has occurred with any game.

Sometimes the audio continues to play but sometimes it doesn't.  Also, the guns sometimes disappear.  For example, the knife you have to kill the first opponent in the first Japanese mission in did not show up when playing and when I tried to hit RB to kill him, nothing happened and he killed me.  But then other times when I played it, it did show up.

I am playing on a burnt copy.

Might be a bad rip, or the laser is going bad.

I burnt it twice though and neither works.  The other games work fine though.

If anything else is working fine then probably your "backup" was not done properly. So use the original one and if it still does issues then it was just your "backup". Now if you did illegally downloaded the game, sorry you are on your own. We don't tolerate piracy here.
