AND??? Why would u wanna write protect the NAND?
Please explain what good this is for and to the homebrew instead of being a shithead who just came from his moms ass.

No need for the flames, guy. If you don't know what write-protecting the NAND would be good for, then this does not concern you. Obviously it's so you can write protect your NAND (and show the status, let you turn off the protection, etc) so you (or anyone else) doesn't accidentally (or purposely) update your JTAG'ed (or JTAG-able) console, which would make it "retail for life."

The benefits - it looks cool, and you only need to install this chip once, then you can just use the sync button to enable/disable write protection to the NAND.

does anyone know of any reason a pic12f683 couldn't be substituted for the pic12f629 with the RF part of this?
just tried it with a 12f683 and it was no-go, windows recognized it as an "unknown device" but after manually installing the wireless drivers for it from MS's site it said it was working correctly. this is with and without the PIC

either way sync is a no-go and the power LED on the ROL doesn't light.

only thing i could think of was the PIC, because i checked every connection multiple times.

can't see why it wouldn't be compatible tho, same OSC, same GPIO, double flash/ram

This Xbox 360 modification does not stop the ban from M$, but it stops the deletion of the HD installation certificates required by games (if the flash type has different pinout, just find the datasheet to locate WP). NOTE: In order to update the kernel this mod must be disabled; a simple switch solution comes to mind. Zip file includes PNG diagram.

Wow! Agreed! And yes, those pinouts for usb just deliver power.

Now the bigger question is if we can get that PIC at the local radioshack. Hehe.

so just a heads up to everyone. you can get free samples of pics from http://www.microchip.com/samples/
all you need to do is register an email account (or numerous depending on how many "samples" you want...for wii chips i had about 30 samples) from here http://www.tshirthel...m/emailhell.htm i use the @angryforlife.com for all my sample accounts. basically if you want to be an ass you could create 100 accounts and get 300 free samples of any pic you need. figured id pass this along, since i did it a few times for wii modchips back in the day.

or, you could go to digikey.com and get them for $1.40 a piece and not waste hours of your time making accounts only to find out your samples aren't coming...

i would use this one

http://search.digike...IC12F629-I/P-ND

as the one you picked is much smaller, making it harder to solder/program/handle in general
