NWP CHIP v2 and CMD RF controller released

GodzIvan strikes again with an update of the Xbox 360 NAND flash write protection chip now called NWP CHIP v2 [Nand Write Protect Chip V2]. This version uses the Xbox 360 native LED ring (instead of a bi-color LED) to show status, so all you need to do is to flash a PIC12F629 microcontroller and install by soldering wires. After checking the diagram I think the solder points looks easier as well.
LED RING RED      -> UNProtected
LED RING GREEN      -> Protected
LED RING ORANGE      -> SETTING
LED RING BLINK GREEN   -> STATE SELECT ENABLE
LED RING BLINK RED   -> STATE SELECT DISABLE
LED RING BLINK ORANGE   -> SAVING

1) TURN OFF THE XBOX
2) STATUS = Press the Sync Botton for 3 secs (GREEN = Protected; RED = UNProtected)
3) SETTING MODE = Press the Sync Botton for 6 secs (till ORANGE = Setting)
4) SET PROTECTION = Press the Sync Botton for changing the setting (BLINKING GREEN = Protected; BLINKING RED = UNProtected)
5) SAVE = Press the Sync Botton for 6 secs (till BLINKING ORANGE = Saving)

GodzIvan also released hex dump and diagrams for CMD RF controller v0.1 which makes it possible to use the Xbox360 RF module (with game controllers) by connecting it to a PC. Thanks for sharing!

Gee, I wonder what a "NAND flash write protection chip" does...

Edit - just read the part under the image about using the RF module on a PC. That's awesome, people have been asking about that for years, I guess it just took a little initiative (and a fair bit of knowledge). Nice work, dude.

So you can take the RF module out of a dead 360 and use it to connect wireless controllers to the PC? Or have I read that last line wrong?

I have the official wireless connector dongle anyway, just interested in that last line under the picture.

I think it allows you to protect your 360 by being able to 'write protect' your NAND, i.e. there is no way anything could update your NAND whilst you had write protect enabled.You would have to turn off the write protection first before being able to flash your NAND.

So it is a way to protect your 360 against accidental flashing by you or less savvy family members, or via a stealth update from a new game or over the net.

No - Read the article again - You don't touch the controller, its uses the sync button on the console

Primarly, this will protect you from microsoft crippling your 360/profile and nulling your secdata over live.

I'm not sure how it would work with kernel/efuse/dashboard updates, but the only reason why i looked into doing it in the past was because of that.

Does this use the original bin file that was for the v1 of the mod? and is it just different solder points for the IC?

Wow, this is awesome!  And here I am, going thru my old modchips and I found a tube full of 12f629 PIC chips!  This will make me feel better when I sell all these jTAGGED consoles as I feared the the R6T3 method might not be enough.  Great job!  Keep them coming!   biggrin.gif
