Inconsistencies In Hybrid X-clamp Fix
« on: March 19, 2010, 12:29:00 PM »

The HYBRID tutorial states that the standoffs are higher than the outer rim of supports by .75mm(3.75 vs 3.0mm), and should be sanded down. However, after measuring both of them, the outer rim is also 3.75mm high, and sanding down the standoffs seems like it would make the board less level and be counter-productive. Is this because I have an early gen 360 or something? How should I go about applying the Hybrid fix?

basically you stack 3 washers on top of one another and sand down until level with the 3 washers, I have had a few where there where much higher and much lower

When the metal case is punched out in the factory, the part with the ventilation holes in front of the outer lip experiences more force than the rest, causing it to bend down more.  So the relative height in front of the outer lip appears higher because the ground level of the case is lower when you stack washers right beside the lip.  relative to the center where the standoffs are located the ground level is correct though and it matches with the sanded standoffs.  Some cases have the standoffs already flattened, so its a good idea to check each one, since it seems kind of random.
