Cygnos360 v2 Rev. F - big block NAND version and Toolbox v1.09 Posted by XanTium | March 19 20:25 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From cygnos360.com: The new version is now able to read and program also the so called "big block NANDs" which are the 256Mb and 512Mb mainboard versions if the Xbox360. In addition to the added support for big blocks the new version ads more quicksolder pads which means less cables are required. Cygnos360 V2 Ref F fits nicely onto the underside of the Xbox360 mainboards and connects to the Jtag port via quicksolders (no resistors or cables needed here) Take a look at the photo, you will see on the top right the new quicksolder pads that sit directly on the jtag port.)  The new version does not carry a secondary NAND anymore so it is a single flasher, not a dual NAND. The reasons for this are, you don't really need the dual NAND feature anymore on the home brew stuff and it allows us to make one version that fits all Xbox 360 versions. Cygnos 360 V2 is now available for Xenon, Opus, Falcon, Zephyr, as well as all  different Jasper versions (16, 256 & 512).  Our tests show very fast programming and reading times. Reading a full 512Mb image takes less than 10 minutes, a 16Mb image less than 2 minutes. The images created are highly reliable as we have implemented error checking during the transfer.  The Cygnos360 V2 is faster, more reliable and easier to install than any alternative solutions. It is now in its 6th revision and we are proud to used each step to make it more perfect.  Revision F is already on the way to some of our resellers which will stock them end of this week. can you avoid E79 using a modchip vs. using wires? my soldering is top notch and i still get E79 once in a while, usually after the 360 is unplugged for too long

I have my full stock of cygnos Rev F, anyone have the install manual?  they still dont have them online  

E-79 is still an issues, but the last console I did I replaced the jumper with a 100ohm resistor and fixed my E-79 errors

If you get random e79s with a Zephyr its a bug in Xbreboot not in the wiring.

I'm considering picking this up to mess with instead of building one since I'm clumsy, but I'm confused by what the quick-solder pads means?

Too late.  I was holding out for one these 2 months ago but not anymore.  
And now without the dual nand its just another usb flasher

what is the purpose of having the cygnos anymore? it doesn't make it so you can get online , and switching to you onboard nand won't help you in anyway. Someone please tell me why this thing even matters anymore. just looks like a lot more work too me , so you can have a blue light.

Yes, does that mean that this "single" NAND is _JUST_ a flasher? i.e. No cygnos NAND anymore? As far as I knew, the cygnos only had 1 NAND to begin with, if you take that one away, then only the XBOX's NAND is left. Is this correct, or is just the functionality for dual NAND missing?
Also, it says to dump a 16MB NAND, it takes 2 mintues? It only takes like 20 seconds on the ones out now.

I wouldn't buy this if it really only flashes the XBOX NAND. Anyways, these are just spots you solder directly from the Cygnos to the motherboard. This can already be done however, you don't have to use the top of the board if you are using 30awg for those spots (they fit anyhow).

Looks like the installation is identical, just have the quick solder pads for JTAG. I would still think you have to short 2 of those JTAG quick pads, not sure though. Of course, what about using diodes or resistors with the new JTAG quick pads? Unless by some miracle you will never need them again, you will not have much room to install them. And yes, it would be nice to have a manual for a product you are selling! I don't see it listed either on their server. I do see "lt.rar" though, and it's encrypted. Of course, they wouldn't have anything related to piracy or security circumvention in that file, they are so honest right? (That _IS_ a joke ) http://www.cygnos360.com/Downloads/

dam i was waiting for this as i have 2 bb that have bad nands here and they dont even get it right wtf is the point in this thing

gess i am going to have to swap out the nands for 16mb one i was hoping to have to avoid to much work

Hi, Can I use this device if I just want to backup my NAND and then flash later if needed. My Xbox already has the latest dash update so cannot use jtag or homebrew, I know that, but I would like to be able to backup and restore if possible. Or is that only possible on consoles with old dash?

you will need to get a valid dump with using the toolbox. But you still won't be booting Homebrew. I could not  see why you can not back up your nand. Soldering it up correctly is key. If you can't solder then not matter what you're not gonna get a dump. But you know that. SO why am i even still typing.

I suppose the only argument to have it now is once installed, you have an extremely neat install to reflash via USB should you ever need to again without opening the console. It reads/writes a 16MB NAND in about 35 seconds too, so it's quick.

It's pretty permanent too - you wouldn't want to be removing this once it's in place and if your soldering's not up to much I'd avoid. Quick solder pads are hit and miss unless you have the right tools.

I never played live on the original , so i just softmodded or TSOP flashed , but i know you could do that. Sounds like this is just a built in USB flasher then at this point , keeping it alive is still good in case someday they can hack the new dash....I know the talk is that they never will but they say that every single time something "breaks" for homebrew and eventually they figure it out.

Hi even though it lost the second nand, usb is still a lot faster than LPT (takes about 2:30 hrs yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh) but I have a question I have a 256 jasper my friend flashed it with xbr & it work but he put my profile then shut it down restart it my profile appeared then suddenly it shut down by it self he saw some jtag cables were removed tried to re-solder then we discovered that we should have soldered diodes not 330 ohm resistors but they it work any thought it dead then I flashed original nand back it worked soldered the diodes flashed xbr 3 red light soldered back the resistors no luck  sooooo if i bought cygnos360 rev f would this make my jasper work with xbr cuz if not I have a Falcon with with the same problem so I would buy the cygnos360 v2, sorry for writing all this & thanks in advance .

Not really, it was never really an offline/online solution. Firstly the drive was always flashed regardless and any change to the eFuses would render the other install useless.
