My guess would be a prototype before the release.  I think that because of the 4 pin fan socket, and maybe the were experimenting with the dvd drive cable placement.  But this is just a guess

Was there a dvd drive manufacture date or something like that

I have never seen that before and it is pretty cool

Are you the first to open it up? I'm guessing no.

It looks to me like someone has added pin headers to make nand reading plug/unpluggable. I can't see anything remarkable about it and the fact that some muppet has put thermal pads on the upper side ram sinks seems to suggest its has been fiddled with.

Take those pads off.

Lmao @ muppet but yeah i bought this refurbed for cheap on ebay and it RRoD'd on me so i opened it up to discover two extra headers and was just wondering.
