0020-been Trying To Fix, Best Way To Fix
« on: February 22, 2010, 09:39:00 PM »

Okay, i got 0020 Error
Before i got x-clamp i had E74, I fixed it
Then, came E73, i fixed that,
Then 0022, Fixed that,
Now, 0020, Currently not fixed.
I Have some pics---  http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IF27NKRR
Okay, i really want to fix this console, dont care if it works for only a few months. I did heat to fix E74, E73, and yes i did it correctly, i used Foil and covered everything, expect the little area i had to fix, I had to fix, the heat gun is digital and tells u the temp its at, i mostly used 450F, sometimes 550F, for quick short time, while moving the gun not to burn the board, and at an okay distance away form the board, it comes with a special flat head, so i direct the heat to where i want it. I'm wondering what the best way to fix 0020.
Thanks for all ur help.
I would pro reflow, but i dont have money for that right now, other wise, bang, would of gotten it already

I tend to give up on those,no doubt youll fix the 0020 and E74 will return. What i usually find is you struggle with E74 then 0110 appears!
0020 can just be the bolts are too tight,so you loosen them 0022 goes away but now its not tight enough to keep E73 at bay,AGHHGH!
I aint saying give up and im sure theres some here who know better advice than to just disparage like myself (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My bet is on GPU area. Heatgun it underside of the board as well and use little  more heat this time, I think you didnt manage good reflow on your chip. Keep the heat at 550F little more than before. Also using no-clean liquid flux under the GPU chip, to wash up its solders, would help to do smoother and better reflow of these solders.

There is a small space between the GPU chip and the mainboard (you can see the solder balls if you look at the side). You will make the liquid flux go thru this space and exit at the other side of the chip. make sure it goes everywhere under the chip. Then clean the around area that got "wet" as well and wait 5 minutes, the flux to vaporate and leave the flux on the solders to reflow. Then do your trick with the heatgun. I hope it works.

P.S. be sure you have no-clean liquid flux.
