After many requests we have made the xDrive 360 Black Edition for those with the Elite consoles. The price is the same as the first xDrive 360 and will be available from all Xecuter retailers from next week.

Note to current xDrive Users: Remember to switch to your internal stock (unflashed) DVD drive when performing system updates ;)

Can't you do this with a spare 360 drive?

its an external 360 drive that you flash with Xtreme to play burnt games while your internal one remains intact after of course dumping the key off it and if your going to go that far you may as well just flash it.

why was there any demand at all for this product (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

The Xecuter xDrive is an add-on kit that gives your Xbox 360 the ability to have a switchable external DVD drive. using the same technology as used on the new Blaster CK3, the xDrive gives you the freedom to utilize a second DVD drive without having to open up your Xbox 360 ever again. You may want a second drive to perform backups of your valuable Xbox 360 games using the new 0800 firmware which is proven to be more reliable than the Kreon DVD drive rips; you may want to keep your internal drive as stock and untouched and have your external unit freely available to do with as you please; you may want to increase the longevity of your internal DVD drive – there are many reasons for you to benefit from the Xecuter xDrive.

i got that from their website. i wonder if this thing is even worth it. kool idea though.

this seems like a rip off...doesn't even come with a dvd drive.  its just the housing and connection hardware.  Cost 80 bucks

Wow.  That's funny considering its called the x"Drive", not xHousing.  If it actually was the complete package it might have some value, but I'm not buying this and then hunting down and paying for an actual drive then.

I"m actually interested in this news, as I was reading about kreon drives becoming obsolete with the new SS.  I was considering picking up an extra 360 drive, and to be able to connect it without being ugly, AND use it dual-purpose is actually enticing.  I don't know about $80, though.  I wonder if it has a pass-through option to use like a regular connector kit.

if this thing is $80 and you still need to buy the drive, might as well just get a used 360 from ebay or craigslist and have that flashed for backups.

or, if youre like me and have the xbox 360 hd dvd player laying around collecting dust, maybe use that to house an extra 360 drive, and make your own set up to switch between drives.

personally, i wont buy this product. even if i had a need for something like this, i dont like the X vent/grill thing on top with "Xdrive" written there too. and why is that there? i didnt know dvd drives got that hot  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

ahh NinjaNoodles.. looks like we were thinking the same thing at the same time!
