I recently learned how to recover a gamertag on a hard drive from a banned console. All worked fine.
Continued to use on the banned console - awaiting the release of the LT firmware for the unbanned console.
Tonight I decided to do it again, as I couldn't wait to be able to download the additional content for Mass Effect 2. Connected the 360 HDD to the PC while powered on (STUPID). It didn't show up in XPort 360. Now connecting it to the 360 it doesn't find a storage device.
I'm 26hrs into Mass Effect 2 and the thought that it's all lost and I'll have to start over is churning my stomach. Hoping someone may be able to help. Don't care if the hard drive is lost just care about recovering the information on it.
As it's not showing up on the PC or 360 I figure it could be the casing itself but the hard drive might be fine. So I'm hoping the hard drive can be removed from the casing, connected to the PC and a backup of the files made to restore on a new HDD.
Anyone out there have any knowledge on this topic - similar stories - success stories (hope would do at the moment). I don't have the necessary tool to open the hard drive casing so I'm stuck until I can get to a hardware store.
