Intercooler?

Just jtagged an old xenon system and reallly want this guy to last. I know cooling is a big problem especially for the origional xenon boards. I have seen a slew of various cooling mods around the scene. I want to know if an intercooler will have the same results?

Intercooler is garbage.  I have personally seen two systems RROD very shortly after installing the intercooler (EX Model). It seems like it takes too much power from the system or something

There must be a couple of different models of Intercooler because the one I have came with it's own power supply.  In fact there is no electrical connection between the XBOX and the Intercooler at all.  It senses heat build up and turns itself on at the appropriate time.  I like it.

My advice to you is to not use an intercooler on the back. If you want to use it to push air into the right side that would be fine, but 80mm fans, or even a room fan pointed at the side would do better. Take off the right side cover and blow some air in with whatever you got, cut the plastic grate behind the fans, and you should be fine.

The intercooler tends to hold the heat in more then get it out. Get XexMenu 1.0 it shows temps (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi!
My idea is to run the 360 without the DVD drive (no longer needed due to external usb) and to install a silent fan on the GPU heat sink.

The original design of the 360 only actively cools the cpu, the GPU is passively cooled. On my Xenon, I got one of the later heatpipes that are reaching into the airflow of the CPU, which is better than nothing.

However, without the DVD drive and an extra fan, the GPU should run much cooler and therefore avoid a future RROD.

Two questions:

1. Where can I take a 5V current for the extra GPU fan?

2. Is it possible to run the 360 without internal DVD drive?
