why would someone want this for anything but the 83850v2 or 93450 as they are the only ones you cant mod without cutting traces.? the previous post said use it for all of them.. does this make it easier or something?
i got a liteon 83850 and sometime the chipset comes up unknown but if i use dosflash it edventually opens up to say marvell or w/e and i was talking to someone who had the same drive but he said he had to cut traces for him to get it to read.. idk, unless u have the v2 or the 934 drives i think its pointless
This basically makes the current homebrew method very easy to do - You still have to cut traces and still have to solder - this just makes it clean and simple.
Without this switch or the homebrew switch you CANNOT mod an 83850 V2 or 93450 - its as simple as that
if you have a 74850 you can use a probe but to get the key only - with this you can dump the entire firmware - the same with the 83850 V1. There are many situations where you would need a full dump - as far as I can see this isnt sold for the purpose of older version - it just so happens to be able to do them also so I dont see any problem at all.
For just a few bucks - this is perfect. If you don't want to buy it - make your own for a few bucks.
This is a VERY useful solution.
To the installers who keep asking about uninstalling it and then re-using it - all I can say is that you are cheapskates. You are probably charging $50 to mod a console and want to save every dime you can. Just get a big bag of these for $3 a pop and be done with it lol
