Part of me wants to order one of these and use it over and over again, and the other part of me wants to order a bunch and just leave 'em in each drive. I wonder what kind of bulk discounts they'll do...

Um, if you install Ixtreme on the drive, then your original firmware is no longer there to be reread.

Ixtreme lets you read back the key over SATA, anyway.

this is just another pointless device made from xecuter to make a easy buck with this gen of xbox

how about instead of making this crap they make a dual nand modchip like cygnos v2 with some good features

I don't see what's so hard on cutting traces and exposing them to solder too.... I did it today within 10 minutes I had the drive open and ready to be read... Flipped the switch and off I went

all you need is an exacto knife, soldering iron, a few pieces of wire, a 22ohm resister and a spst switch

an whammo bammo you got it made smile.gif

and besides... By the time u get this thing in the mail you could have already been playing games for about a week lol.... But yes it does have it's purposes and I think it's a great device for some people.... But if you know how to solder and can hold ur hang steady lol... Why waste $8 an wait about a week to make it barely easier??

Seems like there trying to revive them selfs i know its nothing special but this only costing $8 does seem fair in all honesty. Thats one day you skip fast food eating lol  biggrin.gif  I think if they start doing easy to do solutions and maybe even xbr devices for flashing the nand it would be great still taking other peoples ideas though. Something new and creative would be a plus but i like the price.

60 second install, yeah right. takes more than 60 seconds to take apart the drive, solder the pcb, and reassemble, additional time to put the drive back into console, and so forth biggrin.gif

Thats what I am thinking as the traces must be cut for the dumping to work, but if you can switch from on to off this switch must do something else  huh.gif

You people are seriously this cheap?  WTF is the difference between $5 and $8 (besides $3)

Come on, they are just trying to make things a little easier on people.  Look it costs Xecuter $x to make product, then they charge reseller $x and then reseller has to make profit, its a cheap thing, probably costs like $1-2 to make tops.  So the reseller probably only makes like $3 or so off these.  What you want free hand outs all the time, its not like they are trying to charge $20+ for this thing.  $8 is pocket change for most people and it will make the job slightly easier.  

Look at it this way, if you didn't have the supplies to do the mod, most people will have to go to radio shack and buy switches, resistors, wire, etc. to do it the normal way and that's gonna cost you at least $5-6 there, so why complain about something like this, plus it is a nice clean install with no wires.

Some people don't play on live, but would like a new console if they can't find pre August 09 stock so they have lesser chances of getting RROD.

Yes, But its been that way for a while now on ALL liteon drives, This brings absolutley nothing new.


This IMO is completley useless and just a gimmick for n00bs.  All this does is replace the use of wires and rejoining traces and that is it.  You still have to cut traces, plus if you wanted to re-use it you would need to se-solder the board and then re-join the traces, there is no need to leave it on because once you have fw there is no need for the switch etc.

they have even held back on the tutorials etc so all the n00bs jump in and order one before seeing that its nothing different to what you have to already do.

Just a gimmick nothing more.

basically. it doesn't make things faster, it doesn't make things easier.
it just costs money

you can get a roll of wire and a switch for less money and save time as you don't need to wait for this to come in

like everyone says, ixtreme fw allows you to reflash with no issue so this doesn't even help there.

atleast its only $8.. but that could be put towards something else. oh, like a roll of wire and a couple switches to permanently do more then one drive.
