What Motherboard Is This?
« on: December 08, 2009, 08:30:00 PM »

Its a falcon, you can tell by it only having two inductors to the right of the cpu and it having a non heatpipe cpu heatsink.

Basically the ruling goes like this

203w + No HDMI = Xenon.

203w + HDMI = Zephyr

175w + HDMI = Falcon

150w + HDMI Jasper

203w + No HDMI + Falcon type CPU + HANA = Opus (supposed to be for MS repairs but its rare as hell)

Ps. I dont know where you got your info from but all Xbox 360's have SATA for the DVD-ROM. Xbox 1 used IDE smile.gif

Hey RRODXbox

Thanks for the quick responce! I read this somewhere:
Falcon
# The Falcon Xbox 360 motherboard was the first major shift in the motherboard design. The Falcon's main enhancement was the change to a 65nm CPU and a drop in power consumption from 175 watts to 120 watts.
But I have the 175Watt. Now I have no clue if my powerbrick came with this unit or not so yeah.

But guessing by your knowledge of the motherboard I will go by your advice smile.gif

Do you know what version the of the videochip? I was looking at the pictures in the VideoChip tutorial but I don't have the brands they listed.

  Thanks!

No probs.

The Falcon was the 1st console to have 175w PSU's and 120W doesnt Exist. I would stop using that website  laugh.gif Seriously, theres a lot of sites with a whole heap of misinformation.

You have HANA and the other type is called an ana, if you look close at the chip it is printed on it smile.gif

well 175 watts because of the 60 cpu..don't know if the falcon hit the 150 watt though 60gpu 60cpu in the end....
i am sure someone or RRODXbox would know this...
but 150 watt is the only one that has the newest plugin to the mobo...
and softmod? you mean the jtag hack right....look at the dash first.....see what version that is it's got to be 7173 or lower for the dash...it's jasper you have to worry about what the board version is (16,256 or 512mb)

as you by now seen yours is the Hana...here is the ana

AirBear you don't need a pic of your Hana ,we know which one you have i was just showing you the older style one which i posted a pic of a ana(older one)
and that plug i showed if you see the top of it i meant the plastic bar in it...that's for the new jasper motherboards....which are 150watt power supply units(psu)......yours is the 175 psu unit = falcone motherboard......

ok... so you want to flash the drive..why did't you just say that...lol
look for the model number off the drive and type it in google search
and then you can go from there on flashing the fw in the dvd drive

Hey guys,

 Thanks for the responces!
My DVD rom model # Is VAD6038. I thought I read in the tutorial that they hook up the sata from the motherboard to the pc and get the computer to pick up on it as a logical drive or something like that, but I was really tired when I was reading it so yeah.

What kind of connectivity kit would you suggest? I am very hands on and love soldering ect ect. I actually modded two mini glow tubes that go to bass inside my casing last night :$. I spliced into pin 9 and 10 of the DVD rom power wire.

I seen this connectivity kit here: http://www.mrmodchip...7907148176a288f

Do you think its any good? What would I be looking for in one of these kits? No doubt this will not be the only xbox I mod. I tend to get into these types of things tongue.gif

Thanks!

Update...

RRODXbox: Thanks for all the info! I will be placing my orders today for the power device and the USB extractor. I am looking around for the VIA PCI 6421a Sata card as well. Will this give me a plug and play sata port on the back on my PC case?

fahrenheit: Thanks for the picture! This will come in handy! smile.gif

As I wait for all my modding stuff I ended up doing a few visual mods as well as cooling mods to my 360 console.
I painted the casing for the console a metallic blue with sparkles.
I added a blue color tube and circuit board to control it inside the case. I set the mode to go with the music so the blue light dances to games music ect ect. Once I added the light I started getting over heating. So I pulled the console back apart and I realized that the back fans are in fact 12v but are being fed a 5.5v to the plug. So I connected the fans to the 12v splice I made from the pin 9 and 10 of the dvd rom power cable. This is also where I rigged the lights and future mods to. I also have these super slim heatsinks and fans for 1U Rack mount servers. I removed one of the fans and mounted it ontop of the CPU for extra cooling. It blows down onto the heat sink and the back fans now remove air from the case instead of sucking it in. Since I made these mods the temp inside the case has dropped almost 8c and has never came close to over heating. I tested it last night for about 3 hours of constant gaming.

I want to try and mount the hole fan and heat sink assembly directly onto the chipsets next. But waiting for the proper torx screw driver. Here are some pics of the mods I did and the fans and heat sinks Im talking about. Not bad for my 3ed day with an xbox hehe smile.gif

P.S. Sorry about picture quality, using my cell phone :[

And another update....

After testing the console some more I noticed the extra VGA heat sink that runs off to the side of the cpu heat sink is getting a big warm under heavy load. So I will be installing this little intel fan as well witch clips perfectly over the entire heat sink.
Thats 4 fans in this case now! Hehe smile.gif

@ airbear

Great job, and you saved me from asking a few of the same questions, as I have that same board, but my psu is 203w. I like the way you placed the fan on the cpu, but I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't tap into your dvd drive for power. I could be wrong though.

I also agree with Fahrenheit as to not place anything on the gpu pipe. I actually have my case open now, and looking it, it looks pretty flimsy to be honest, and I would hate to see how it would look under full load, hot, with a fan on it. We are talking about M$oft. Mess around the way they do things, I wouldn't be surprised if your pipe cracked, fell off, and freaking spontaneously combusted. lol

Maybe you could place that fan on the gpu itself if it's a thin fan. Just a thought. Personally I'm just going to take the damn mobo out of the case and slap it into a pc, and load it up with a few silent fans. I have a few 120 mm thermaltakes laying around... wink.gif

Either way good luck on your project, and keep us updated. I for one would love to see your progress. Oh and get a new camera. lol
