If it's lagging it's probably your DVD drive. Try putting the game on the hard drive. You could have laggy graphics from bad cooling, or a bad heatsink and dye connection. I really dont think replacing the GPU is the solution, and it's really not something you want to go out of your way to do for no good reason, it involves a reflow station and nerves of steel.

Have you cleared the Cache?  Oblivion used to have a similar caching issue.

HD installs can still run rough especially if the drives fragged heaps.

If it is the GPU you would expect other games to be experiencing similar issues (And for the problem to get worst).

As such, I'd investigate a little more before messing around with the GPU.

To me your problem sounds like a bad DVD read (Which you say it isn't due to your HD install) or a caching issue.

I have cleared cache twice and reinstalled the game twice, also tried playing the game directly from the dvd drive only...

and still the game runs exactly the way it did...

btw, if it was just 1 game I wouldn't care...but it seems like its in others too, just to a lesser extent, mass effect is more graphically demanding so thats why I assume it lags most on that game.

btw I just got this 360 like 4 days ago...

like I said before, my old one ran flawlessly, so I know its not the dvds themselves...

Ok it's sounding like a dodging GPU.  If you only bought it a few days ago, I would take it back to the shop for a direct exchange (Most retailers will give a straight swap within 30 days of purchase).  

It's a hard fix to change the GPU yourself and will defiantely void your warranty (If you get it wrong the xbox will just be an expensive paperweight, so if you can't get the store to exchange for whatever reason (i.e. no reciept or proof of purchase), contact M$ for a warranty repair.

Well, my xbox is already modded, can't you get in trouble for returning a modded one? tongue.gif

and as for a hybrid x-clamp fix? what exactly will that do? I thought x-clamp fixes were for xboxes with rrod? (I know nothing bout x-clamp fixes tongue.gif )
