New Hardware In 360's With A Nasty Drive

hi guys. Funny thing. This is the exact information from the site. Probably i'm the first dutch guy to read it. But i will translate it exactally for you:

CODE

The drive keeps returring error when trying to read with dosflash: Invalid Drive Data

Information about the xbox 360:

Forza 3 pack xbox 360 Elite
MFR: 2009-08-17 LOT 0942
DVD-DRIVE: Philips-LiteOn DG16D2S-09C
HW: AOA2
SW; 83850C

On the bottem of the drive:

7819503050-B  CM1

So this guy tried to read the drive with dosflash?!!?!!
I'm having doubts about the competence of this guy and about the validity of his message reporting this drive is unreadable. All of us know that the new liteon MUST be read with jungleflasher.

Please learn the facts. The new dosflash can read the readable 83850C. So don't judge someones competence without doing yor homework first! That would be a lack of competence. Normally I flash all the drives without the need of a monitor in DOS (except the Hitachis). Just by the blinking of the LED of the USB stick. You wanna know why? That's because I don't wanna drive around with a monitor in the car when I come too my costumers for the house service.
Competence enough I would say. Please accept the facts that M$ patched the firmwares from august and on. 100% sure, because the 83850C from june and early july were readable. No user error!

Dosflash 1.8 :

>> Schtrom released new version of DosFlash(info)(info) has been released.
What's new/fixed:
* now supports LiteOn PLDS DG-16D2S 83850C V2 Geremia/Maximus LiteOn FreeKey method
* huge firmware read/write speed increase, especially if run from a floppy disk
* updated IDE/SATA motherboard chipset list
* new IDE/SATA detection for Windows and DOS
* DosFlash.typ embedded in executable file
* LiteOn V1 drive key is now extracted 10 times and compared against each other, after the extraction a summary is displayed sorted by the most common matches
* LiteOn V2 drive key is extracted 2 times and compared
* new BenQ unlock keys added to unlock all known BenQ drive firmwares
* command line parameter "EnableDrives" removed, DosFlash asks the user on application close if he wants to enable the drives or not, during the tests it seems that IDE drives have problems with the enable, SATA drives seem to work fine
* new 64-bit DosFlash edition added called DosFlash64, because some driver functions don't work as expected in the 32 bit compatibility mode on Windows x64
* Beta state removed
* ready and tested on Windows7 X86 and x64

Geremia/Maximus FreeKey method with DosFlash16
We have added one cmd line parameter for DosFlash16 in manual mode. The COM port is simply ignored and can have any value for the V2 drives.
Use the following command line to extract your free key from 83850C:
- DosFlash LITEON K 0970 1 inquiry.bin identify.bin key.bin dummy.bin enckey.bin

Do you wanna know if your drive is readable? check the 360's MFR DATE

First Release - 2009-06-30 :    99,9% Readable
2009-07-01   - 2009-07-31:     high chance to be readable
2009-08-01   - 2009-08-31:     Small chance to be readable
from 2009-09-01 and on:        Very small change to be readable

I think M$ patched the firmware for the first time from MFR date 2009-08-15 and on. But not all of them have been patched. There are reports that MFR september 2009 units are readable.

This fact makes is not easy to identify a hackable drive. M$ didnt changed the firware no.  either.

So I assume that the V2 just means this is the second version of the lite on drives with the first version being the 7K series and the second being the 8K.  Not the new version of the 83850C

I just got a Lite-in where jungleflasher reports FW: 9345

IU  did not have time to take pictures of the label but the FW ver: on the label was something like 95450

Not readable with LO83info...

That's right. The new 83850C is actually then LiteOn V2.5 and the LiteOn 9k is V3. I think The new V2.5 (83850C) has the same firmware as the 9k (V3). But the V2.5 reports as V2 (spoofed FW (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

I always use dos instead of JF if I could no Windows hangning.
The only ones I do in Windows is Hitachi wich could be a pain in the A##

I'm not 100% sure here I think I was able to flash this drive. I got an xbox 360 with the DG-16D2S-09C drive in it and it doesn't say anything about 83850C v2. It just says 83850C mfg date of 07/23/2009.

I used jungle flasher and I was able to get the key and flashed it but my problem is my dvd drive keeps ejecting the first time I tried to flash it. I wasn't successful in getting the key at first attempt because I missed one instruction with using jungle flasher.

Anyway I will buy another console now because I can't fix this one. I just wanted to share my experience here in the forum.

Hi. does anyone know if the new jasper xbox360 without the extra skins is on gpu & cpu lower nm than previews jasper motherboard with extra heatskin that is 65nm the cpu & gpu.

Finally the new dosflash does it support any easy dumping procedure for the 83850c version2 and 93850c liteon drives?

A lot of thanks.
