From gizmodo.com:
If you want to stream 1080p TV shows and movies from the Zune/video store this fall, your 360 needs to be hard wired to your router, or on an 802.11n network. Knowing this, Microsoft is readying an official 802.11n adapter.
But anyway, an official 802.11n adapter for the 360? Sounds good to me. It's hit the FCC, and we'll let you know pricing/availability when Microsoft fills us in.

Seriously, paying $99 for the original wireless adapter was ridiculous, and the failure rate on those units were higher than they should have been. I can only imagine that this new Wireless-N adapter will set people back $50 more. Let's just hope that it doesn't break down as easily...
Wireless gaming just got more expensive.

I'd probably get this if i had a 802.11n router. Wired is still probably the best way to go. Homehubs are also a good option for those who don't want cables running through their house QUOTE(dharrison @ Sep 15 2009, 05:19 PM) Seriously, paying $99 for the original wireless adapter was ridiculous, and the failure rate on those units were higher than they should have been. Wireless adapters failing? Never heard of that before... I've had mine since Jan 06; & my cousin has had one for over 2 years - maybe were just lucky... This post has been edited by K1LLERHORNET: Sep 15 2009, 05:23 PM

I've come across many that just stop working. Also, there are a lot on Ebay for sale. Don't get me wrong, the numbers don't compare when put up against the RROD failure rate, but wireless adapters and wireless headsets do have a slightly higher failure rate than they should. Especially when you are paying the prices that you are for them.

At a $99 price point even, it would be better (as in you have something that is useful even when 360 is not using it) to get a second router and just bridge it to your WAN connected router...

At this point I am still skeptical about 1080P over wireless. I can't imagine that these streams would have a very high bitrate.

Everybody who works in networking knows drilling a hole & running a CAT5 or better to a room is far cheaper and efficient than any wireless solution. Same applies for 802.11n, if you really need such speeds and such a range, you should look for wired solutions instead.

A Haiku consists of three lines with a 5/7/5 syllable layout, not a 3/5/3 word layout. As for the cost of this device, I'd guess MS will price it at $99+ just to be greedy like the last adapter. Something more along the $49 max range would be just about right.

Anyway, they should just merge the wireless into the Xbox, or maybe even Natal. They need to do something smart and innovative, the (seemingly) hundreds of accessories for the 360 are becoming annoying, some of this stuff should be built in.
