Wtf! Spoofing Benq Drive - Open Tray Error...
« on: September 11, 2009, 02:21:00 AM »

I'll try to keep this short:

I couldn't fix a guy's RRoD so I got his benq drive off him in order to fix someone else's 360 that was having an open tray error.  I'm pretty sure I spoofed the drive correctly because I've done it a few times now, but I'm still getting an open tray error!  I'm pretty sure the replacement drive was ok but I don't really have any way of knowing and I currently don't have any other drives or Xboxs to test the drive and xbox with. Anyone else experience this?

What happens if you try to play a game in a drive that wasn't modded/spoofed correctly? do you get an error? open tray problem?

I'll try to clean the lens tomorrow and see if this helps but i'm pretty sure the drive was working fine before the guy got the RRoD.  I want to stay away from temp fixes like putting the rubber band in hot water and the POT calibration because this is for a paying customer and those are primarily quick fixes that don't permanently solve the problem.

So much for keeping it short, lol.  Thanks for any advice.
