360 Freezing During Play, Is It A Dying Disk Drive?
« on: February 02, 2020, 10:47:00 PM »

This 360 would start freezing during play.  Sometimes it would be like 20mins and sometimes it would be like 5 mins until it froze.  I heard somewhere that this problem is an early indicator of an inevitable RROD so i replaced both x-clamps, and also installed a 12cm fan blowing directly on the large heatsink.  After doing this the same thing continued to happen.

From browsing the forums i think the problem might be a bad DVD drive.  What else could it be if its not the DVD drive?

If it is indeed a DVD drive thats the probelm, it is a modded BenQ drive flashed to the newest firmware.  I have an extra BenQ drive from a broken xbox that is unmodded.  How hard would it be to replace the hacked/failing drive with an unmodded/working one?

Any advise will help!

It might be just your laser lens failing. You can adjust the pot or replace it. in this case you wont need to get into flashing troubles.
