0001 On Virgin Xenon, 0002 After Reflow
« on: August 22, 2009, 06:13:00 AM »

Hi overyone ...

i just got xenon a moment ago, still virgin... and got intercooler installed on the power port..ike this (IMG:http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/P10357701.jpg)

- the code is 0001... power supply related...unplug the intercooler still the same, is there any possible that something shorting because of the intercooler.. ?
the symptoms are : the power just blink (rf led) for a 0.5 second and turn off by itself...the psu blink green and orange (no red)..the fans spins for 0.5 sec.

- what should i do??? I change the Power adapter it running and give me 0102 code..but sometimes 0001 again..

- had anybody ever experience this problem before??? this xbox still untouched or unteched, if there is something broken or shorting.. what 'caused this problem??(or this error has a relation since it was intercooler installed? ) if there's some component must be replace what is it and where's the location..?

-  i manage to check psu port =good, try different PSU=same error ( i have 3 psu all work with other console)...check the big caps=nothing strange ( is this possible the big capas broken when it look good ??)

note= I was think this is related with 0102 shown before, and I remember the xbox still virgin..(and intercooler attached on psu port when it came for repair)...and i opened the unit, try to ovenfix and reflow at low temperature 100-200 C reflow  and now she give me 0002 with the symptoms are same:  the power just blink (rf led) for a 0.5 second and turn off by itself...the psu blink green and orange (no red)..the fans spins for 0.5 sec.

-  i guess (pretty sure) the intercooler damage something on this xbox...but i don't know where it is..?

-  from where i have to start? big caps or mosfet? or something else?

-  and now the final question...how to check the 5v and 12v rails ? i have a multimeter but don't have brain to use it.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

- can somebody give some tutorials how to check to rails for common power issue related?

i think it better if there are some sticky tutorial thread how to check the power rails..or video youtube  tutorial maybe? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)  so everyone that have same problem can get it rid easier...

i'll apreciate it if somebody give me a enlightment ?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

thanks
sorry for my bad english...

Info:

QUOTE
E-Code / Secondary Errorcode   - (no Audio/Video) / 0001
Known fixes:
1) Scan the mainboard and make sure that there is nothing that might short something out, like metal chipping, components, that move out of place while heatgunning, etc.
2) X-Clamp replacement
The GPU heatsink might be shorting out if you screwed it in so tight...
3) Reflowing the solder with a heatgun
In rare cases a reflow might also fix it.
Related Errors:
No relative errors..
Description:
This error can be triggered by a faulty power supply or a short in the console. The short is located near one of the main supply lines, so not under the chips, it might also be a blown capacitor fuse or just a bridged contact.

QUOTE
E-Code / Secondary Errorcode   - (no Audio/Video) / 0002
Known fixes:
1) Replace any broken capacitors/mosfets etc. or get rid of something that is shorting out in the CPU area.
2) X-Clamp replacement(CPU)
3) Reflowing the solder with a heatgun
Concentrate on the CPU.
Related Errors:
No relative errors..
Description:
This error code is caused by a cold solder joint under the CPU or by a problem with the way it is powered(blown mosfet, capacitor or a short)
According to xbox-scene it is also a problem with the ethernet chip but I doubt that this is true.

no wait, let me get that straight.

you had a new xbox, you have attached the intercooler and you have opened it because you had the 0001 error? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

holy jesus

the intercooler is a bitch: it steals power from the xbox and screws up your PSU plug port (if you check one of the pins should be in the wrong position) but i guess you already fucked the xbox opening it.

good luck if you fix it :/
