Reasons why this is pointless
  • It costs more then a separate 360 drive on Ebay
  • Switching between drives despite being online or offline merits a ban because the Xbox 360 stores bad backup data.
  • We pretty much already beat Microsoft with flashed retail drive's which is why only people are getting banned from bad backups and so far we have kept those from even booting with 1.5 to 1.6.
  • Ugly wires

Reasons why this is useful
  • Extend Drive life
  • No hassles of flashing

Its kind of... more of a collectors item then an actual useful drive.

My first opinion about this was one of amusment, "what a fecking waste of time"

Ive been thinking about this a bit. Atleast when the latest Xtreme firmware comes out I wouldn't have to strip my Console back down to reflash the drive, just plug the external drive straight into my PC and reflash.

It takes me less than 5 minutes to completely dissemble the 360; just de-casing in order to access the DVD drive is less than 2.

Still, not like it isn't less than that, so....

QUOTE(Andy Hewitt @ Aug 19 2009, 06:47 PM) View Post

And if I did have a Blaster 360 fitted to my Console, I wouldnt need to open my console to reflash anyhow, so all this is mute.

No, it's moot. If it was mute then we just wouldn't be able to hear it laugh.gif

So you guys don’t think this would ease the risk of being banned?  It seems to me that connecting to live with a modified dvd drive is extremely risky.  To reduce the risk of ban,  you could leave your drive virgin and use this drive when off line to play your backups.  Then when you want to play on live you take your original games out of the safe and pop them in your virgin drive, plug the Ethernet cord in.  This may not be safer but I know there has to be risk being connected to live with a modified drive. uhh.gif

Extremely risky if you can't follow simple instructions.

Since modified firmware has been available I have been online with my backups...

Yet to face the banhammer (never say never), but c'mon, this device is just for those people that get scared by rumours and don't understand the technical details of using modified DVD firmware.

Most bans are because people aren't backing up their own games properly or they download early releases that aren't checked.

Guys lets be real here, playing backups on/offline doesn't matter because the Xbox 360 records bad backup data and sends it to Microsoft when you connect to live.

I have compared several nand dumps at various times and see no diffrences, I have even tested bad backups to try and force some sort of change, can anyone else confirm this?  Or prove that it is written to the nand

Xbox-scene themselves have made reports that bad backups offline were banning people upon connecting several people have confirmed reports with proof that after booting onto LIVE with originals and playing offline with network cable disconnect they still were banned go check the past ban waves. Despite rather or not this is untruthfulness of the scene this drive still has very little purpose at all. Offline drive and Online drive? Microsoft can't detect the firmware they detect bad backup data doesn't matter what drive your using if your backup is good with the latest firmware your safe if the backup is bad (and you don't have 1.5/1.6) your banned drives can't save you.

u only usually get banned if either

a: you leave a backup in when u start it up

or

b: its a crap copy

the way u get banned is the challenge/response when your xbox starts up on the last lot of bans 95% of people had been playing saints row 2 and because they downloaded it or bought from a car boot got banned coz it was a crap copy.

while im here team xecuter cant make modchips anymore a few years ago im pretty sure they had a cease and disest (thinkthats how u spell it lol) order against them

got to admit though this case thing is crap u can fit a normal 360 drive into the hd drive anyway as its the same footprint (check llama.com) they are only £17 preowned in the uk and u can mod it to do the same thing as this case for half the price.

xecuter should work on things like xcm do more money in that.

This isn't true, if the backup is a 1-1 copy with no defects while booting the Xbox will not detect it despite booting with it or not.

Mostly true in so little words yes.

Challange/response... wat. You mean the Xbox 360 checks to make sure the backup has no difference from a retail? Also the 95% number is way over hyped here... You are also referring to the reviewers version of Saints Row 2 which Microsoft sent out black listing, it wasn't a bad backup it was a leak that Microsoft then used to their advantage to catch pirates.

You sure that's what it is? Technically the blaster 360 is a mod chip that connects to your drive for flashing and they still sell that along side this...

I'm pretty sure case or not an external drive is useless anyway...

@lllsondowlll Current back-ups are not a 1to1 copy, and will likely never be.

the blaster is not technically a modchip it doesnt store anything on it it is a sata bridge

all thats inside it is a small board with sata on it no flash chip whatsoever

read up and do your homework before trying to bring someone down idiot

edit: chessmastor is absolutely correct a backup is not a true one to one copy at the moment

From What I was told from Xecuter himself is that the xDrive 360 does not use the blaster . It is a completely different add-on . The parts that come in the kit allow you to switch between drives not like the blaster where you are putting FW to the drive from the PC .

No you cant use it with a blaster - two completely different products.
Take a look at this image , its the kit . Notice the piece that resembles the blaster , They are different . IPB ImageIPB Image
