Ok so here is the situation. I got a xbox that had a damaged drive.  
Manf Date: 2006-09-08.

The drive that was in there was a Hit 79.  I read the firmware and found out that it was
flashed with IE 1.2 and spoofed as a Hit 59.  I got a good key from the drive, who knows if its the right one.

So i have tried several different drives (Benq/Hit 79/Liteon) But i keep getting the "put a originial disk in the drive" error.  Before i mark this xbox off as a paperweight I wanted to try different DVD drive version thinking maybe the person who tried to fix it before spoofed it as the wrong drive type.

So now onto my question if I know the manufacture date of the console can i determine what DVD drive should be in it, or at least narrow it down.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Should be a hitachi or samsung.
