Lite-on Dg-16d2s Aoa1 7485oc Disc Read Problem
« on: June 17, 2009, 06:29:00 PM »

Ok I have a 360 with the Lite-on DG-16D2S 7485OC, not flashed, and when its cold or has been sitting for awhile it boots game DVD's fine but when it gets hot it stops recognizing original games and will only load movie DVD's, I have taken it apart and noticed that it does get very hot especially being right over the heat sink for the after burner hot GPU and I see that the pc board of the drive is at the bottom and maybe it is getting overheated? I was wondering if this means I need to replace the whole drive or will a laser swap fix this problem or what can I do to correct this problem? The microsoft sticker is gone and the case is damaged from trying to pull it apart the wrong way so sending it to microsoft is out of the question. I am hoping that this problem has a fix as I have seen a couple of thread around the net about this very same issue but no one has yet to post a solution that has worked. Any info that would aid in my dilema would be very much appreciated.

I dont know for sure but my best guess is it will be the pcb that is damaged. The heat will make the board expand and then it probly loses contact on a few solder joints.

Best thing to do would be replace the drive and that will rule every thing out to do with the drive.
