You have to remember how tight margins are and how high little costs add up when you are manufacturing millions of these things. What if the cost to Microsoft was $3 for 8GB of flash memory? That's a huge chunk of change when you add it up. I just wish they made a console that was guaranteed to be fixed of the RROD.

if it costs $3 for 8GB of memory, then just increase the RRP of the SKU by $5 - that would cover the extra cost of additional storage capacity.

everyone wins.

according with the photos, the changes are 3:  1-Samsung nand 512MB,  2- Brings back again the 4 memorys ram (4 on top, like the Falcon Version 2) the other 4 memorys at the bottom dessapears, and  3- All the capacitors around the CPU changes to the metallic and little ones.

In Europe this new jasper comes in the 915 LOT number , manufacter date 8 april /2009, and it does not comes with any games (no sega tennis, no arcade games)

How can we find this jasper 512MB in the US ?

You're ignoring the fact that there's a huge psychological difference to many consumers in buying a product that costs $204 vs a product that costs $199. It's not "under $200" anymore, even if it's only $5 more than it used to be.

Could the increase to a 512MB internal MU benefit the NXE, if all the necessary files in their entirety are contained within?

I presume the NXE won't load from the HDD or 256/512mb USB on the new Jaspers but instead come pre-loaded on the larger internal MU.

Could this fix the terrible dashboard lag that so many people, including myself, get?
I've owned 5 360's for obvious reasons. None of them displayed amazing results when accessing the HDD like for saving games. Quite slow if you ask me.

I rarely use my dashboard in-game as it hangs for about 30-45 seconds. Compared even to a 54,00rpm bog standard laptop HDD it seems strange. That's what leads me to believe that the NXE's lag issue's could be due to not being on the internal MU like the original dash back in 2005 was.

I know im reaching a bit there but MS did announce performance updates at E3. I hope that they don't overlook the laggy navigation and just add more features, then tout the new 512mb internal MU jasper running the NXE flawlessly to boost future console sales.

I could very well be wrong as im clearly just speculating but I for one will be interested to see how well the NXE performs on the new jasper because of this.

Hmmm, I've been looking for a jasper for near 2 months now, nothing where I live. this would make it easier to find for sure.

Question is, what DVD-ROM is in it?

And I noticed today that walmart in Canada has the arcade for 149.99 this weekend.  Perhaps to move old stock?

I bought a arcade 360 a few days ago...manufacture date was april/09 (either 3 or 4th...cant recal).

anyways...the box said 256mb...I was expecting to find a memory card...there was none though, and the consoles internal memory was 323mb's...?
leaving me to assume its a 512mb...with the dashboard and other 360 things taking up 189mb's of space.
