If Datel really HACKED/CRACKED the Securitystructure of the memorycard, MS will kick the ass of everyone who uses this.

There are already ways to pull game saves and game data off of HDDs and memory cards. If there was a way to hack the system that way someone would have found it already.

Well, if we can change the SD card while it's plugged into the 360, it *may* be possible to swap cards without the system realising they've been changed, which is something we couldn't do before.

No it doesn't.
otherwise the warranty periods would be ridiculously short for all of the EU. To be able to sell something in a country the product and customer service must comply with that nations laws.
or they wouldn't have a foot to stand on when they don't release something in country X, now they're hiding behind the "licensing" bs.
maybe you should learn a thing about international law before making such statements making you look like someone who thinks America is the world.

Also, something I noticed, the official memory cards, don't have the "Microsoft" logo on them in the dashboard.
So no copyright infringement there

Ok, I did a quick teardown. Sorry for the blurrycam but its on my phone!
Thing sticking out of the slot is a microsd to sd adapter - should allow faster speeds than with a microsd card.
From what I can tell, the device reads any normal fat partition, encrypts/encodes the data and then passes it to the 360 which may allow use of more than just SD cards.

Top

The chip is a Philips ARM7 mcu (LPC2888FET180) a little unusual to have on a memory card? Theres also contacts for a i/o LED in the top right corner.

Bottom

The chip is a RawScience "FreeBox". Datel own RS, so I'd assume this handles encryption or whatever - and theres not much chance of getting a datasheet for it.
The 8 contacts lower down are either gpio or were originally for use with a full size SD... or both?

So, how has this developed? I just bought one of these online and now I'm worried about getting banned or having my warranty denied if use it...

Mostly I just need something for moving my GT around from time to time and I've put off getting an official card because of how overpriced and worthless they are.

It would be nice to use for videos and demos, to help prevent any fragmentation of the 360 HDD (or is it frag proof?)

Hey, does anyone know which brand of microSD card this comes with? I'm also wondering the quality of the microSD card slot contact points in the memory unit. I hope it's nothing cheap which would wear out after a few pop-in/pop-out's.
