Dvd Burner Installation Issues, Please Help.

I am trying to install the hp  TS-H353 sata drive in my computer. All I received was the sata cable and drive and have connected it to my computer. However, my computer and XBC aren't recoginzing the drive. I know it is wired correctly because it lights up when I put a disc in and open the drive but the computer doesn't recognize anything. Any suggestions?
