Xbox360 Error 0102 (unknown)
« on: March 22, 2009, 01:23:00 PM »

My console isn't overheating, I knew that from the start since I have never had a problem with overheating.  Anyway I got the error code 0102.  It could be a number of things, what should I check?  When I get the error I simply just restart the console then it starts working again.  It hasn't really froze on games except once lately.

Where you getting 0102 error?  I have recently detached the DVD drive, maybe its loose?  I'll try that out
quick....

It seems to just happen on startup.  I've never had it happen while its on for awhile.  Just when I start it up when its been off for awhile.  At first I thought it was my power supply,.. got a new cable and found out it wasn't that.

This happens to a friends of mine. It normally works fine, if it starts with that error he just turns it off and back on. So far he's not had to do it more than 2 times to get her running. And after it runs no issues, so so far we've just left it as is.

0102 is one of the more common errors poeple face. This error when there is a cold solder joint Under the GPU. The ultimate fix is the Hybrid X-clamp fix

Good Luck

Yeah, it friggin keeps giving me the 0102 error now I can't even get it to the dash (very occasionally).  Whats the fix, I can't send it back to Microsoft, warranty is void.  X-clamp fix?

Yes a heatgun will fix it as it will reflow the solder back into good condition. Follow up with an x-clamp fix. That should do it.

Good luck

Alright will do, thanks guys.  I'll give the results..

Any recommendations on some not so expensive heatguns.  I've seen a lot of tutorials on the X-clamp fix -- which one would you guys use?

Any heatgun that can go up to 500c should do the trick. Read this tutorial for more info. http://xbox-experts.com/e/tutorial.php?n=heatgunisol

I haven't personally tried this to my broken box yet (don't know where to find this plastic stuff at) but it looks promising and the next best thing to buying a rework station.
