Wired Controller Problems
« on: March 02, 2009, 12:00:00 PM »

hey guys ive had this wired controller for about 10-11 months and in the past month it has been turning on and off quite often, its gotten worse too. when i pull on or mess around with the rubber part that attaches the cord to the controller, it seems to affect it. i took some pictures, but everything looks normal.

what could the problem be, and how could i fix it?

these are pictures of the power connection:

It's usually the cord that fails in some way on a Wired controller that will give ya all the problems.

Are you in the habit of wrapping the cord around the controller when you're done playing? If so, that's broken down the wiring there at that stress relief and is causing an intermittent open or the wires coating (inside the cable) have worn thru and it has an intermittent short. You'll have to either cut the cord and rewire it to the board, ya lose 6 to 8in of the cord doing that, or just replace the cord.

It's never a good idea to wrap the cord around the controller when you're done with it, or to get the cord bent at any kind of sharp angle there right where it goes into the controller. It just puts too much stress on it and before long it'll start having intermittent issues like that or just stop working.

Still, the cord is the first place to start with an intermittent controller, and being impatient about it isn't going to help any either, 1 bump per day.

A bump after 5 hours of initial posting is impatient, all there is to that, this isn't a live help forum and sometimes ya have to wait until someone sees it, real forum members don't limit themselves to just what's on the first page, and since others do post on the site as well you're allowed 1 bump per day.
