From 3 Rrod To Brick Showing Short

First off, thank you to CSCZERO... I used his original pic for this.

So I had the 3 rrod earlier today, did the X-clamp mod, still no change. My xbox would come on for an instant then shutoff as if it didn't make it thru POST. After messin with it a bit I figured out it was the chip shown below... when I put pressure on the chip it would boot and run fine... no problem, I'll just reflow the solder. I removed the mobo, used foil on sensitive areas and then heated it with a heat gun as I've done before with the CPU / GPU.

After letting it cool for 20 min. or so I plugged it in and now my power brick shows red light short! All I can figure is somehow I managed to flow 2 tracers together? I can't see anything on top or bottom to indicate that, but maybe in the internal layers.

Any thoughts on what to try?

Here's the chip I'm dealing with circled in red, still new and not sure what the name of it is...

Tht is the south bridge check the mobo any shorts

Did you touch the 360 at all before the 20 minute cool down was over? Even if you didn't I would heat it back up again with the heat gun and hopefully it will fix your problem.

I tried to heat the board again, both sides. Let it cool for another 30 minutes or so and have the same result... still a red light when I plug in the brick. I know the problem lies somewhere near the south bridge, what exactly can I check there? I've been over it with a microscope, no visual problems with tracers or solder joints... just not sure where to go from here.

If it's been xclamp fixed check the washers either side of the board. If the sharp edge of the washer was facing in then it could be shorting. A black mark on the washer will be a short for sure.
