I don't recommend using the spring lock washers under your motherboard. Ive gotten boards to fix in the past that people had used the spring washers against the board and they can easily dig into the copper on the motherboard and cause damage which then will have to be sanded down to allow any normal washers to sit flat.

Also the lockwashers are not even being used correctly in this application and serve no purpose. They also do nothing as far as cooling goes.....steel sucks at transfering heat, so how they could they help cooling? According to the
Nasa Fastener Design Manual, "The lockwasher serves as a spring while the bolt is being tightened. However, the washer is normally flat by the time the bolt is fully torqued. At this time it is equivalent to a solid flat washer, and its locking ability is nonexistent. In summary, a lockwasher of this type is useless for locking." I wouldn't believe what the sellers on ebay are saying until I did some of my own research.
The nylon washers are not my favorite either for a couple reasons. Almost every single one that I've measured is over 1mm thick. Another thing is that they can change in thickness over time due to various factors such as heat/pressure making them possibly thinner which I've seen, or else in a humid environment they can slowly absorb moisture and possibly swell over time.
Click Here to read a report on "Relative Dimensional Change of Various Nylon Products Due to Moisture Absorption" that when referring to nylon products states "moisture absorption also affects change in part dimensions......the source of much concern to design engineers when contemplating material selection".
They are used more for things like tuning drums, where u need to be able to adjust the tightness easily, which also means they become loose earlier and need more readjusting. In other words, nylon washers are designed specifically to decrease the resistance during tightening, since the friction coefficient is significantly lower between metal-nylon than metal-metal. Nylon washers also start to get brittle over time and actually break right off....they always require frequent replacement, which wouldn't be practical for a "permanent" xbox fix. The copper surrounds on the 360 are fine when used with all metal washers as long as they do not extend out far enough to short anything. The outer diameter should be no larger than 10mm.
