0102 Still After Xclamp Fix...
« on: February 09, 2009, 02:27:00 PM »

Is the motherboard still flexing? Are you putting the heat sinks on too tight?

You kind of have to play with the heat sinks to get them at the correct level.

Make sure you are getting a full square on the heat sink after setting it on the cpu or gpu ,to know its making good contact.

Also look over the mobo for any parts that are broken, I found 3 components on a 360 i just bought, so its worth checking, and also look for traces that could be damage.

What are you using to get the solder to reflow?

Have you reflowed it? Heat it up? Put it in the oven kind of thing?

Keep checking the codes when ur adjusting the screws it could change.

i.e. a had error 102 cpu was too tighten and i loosened it, but the xbox still had 3rrod, but it gave me the code for the gpu instead.

Try doing it again, well heating the hatsinks untill they give you 2 red lights(without having the fans plugged and having the 4 bolts finger tght, not screwed tight), then wait like 2 more mins with the red lights on. then turn it off and wait for the heatsinks to cool down, then from there tighten the bolts a little, and just hope it works.

Nah, you should be clear as long as your bolts are finger tight. And its also better off doing this without the case as it doesn't keep all the heat inside, and flexes or ruins anything. Just do it, and see what happens. Do everything exactly as I said to do it.

The new code you're getting is almost the same as 0102, keep going. It should be fixable, just keep wating for those 2 red lights, and wait 2 mins after that with the red lights on, then while the heatsinks are getting cool to the touch, just tighten the bolts.

i also suggest to get some fans, like pc fans and install them onto your case for better cooling, and so that your 360 lasts a bit longer.

i need to try this myself... do i need to completely remove the heatsink reapply arctic silver or can i just  loosen it heat then tighten?

Well, if you over heated it, and did the 2 red lights and all that, then yeah reapply new artic silver, if you just reapllied artic silver and didn't do the 2 light thing, then yeah you can just overheat it now without taking off the heatsinks.

K I tighten the bolts and got error code and got 0102 again.

Then you have to overheat it, wait for the 2 lights, then wait a little more than 2 mins maybe 3 mins tops.
Or before that, try tightening it a little more, or loosening the botls.
If that doesn't work, then Idk bro.

What happen, you almost had it fixed when it was at the new error code?

Did you tighten something? Remember to wait and let it cool before moving it.

I switched back to the newer xbox 360 that i had that messed up but now with that code I seem to think xclamp fix is good just now I got to do something with ram chips?

Well, that means that your ram cheap needs the solder to be reflowed. i don't know how to fix that, sorry. Wait untill one of the better modders see this, if anything , just message grim187, he knows his stuff.

I have a box with the ram chip problem I was going to use a heat gun however I've found that the chip is cracked on the bottom and is missing a component, so differentially check to make sure all the chips are secure.

You'll have to use the heat gun as the chips don't get hot enough to reflow themselves.

Theres a gudie floating around on how to reflow them let me know if you cant find it and i'll help search for it.
