Eager to use your mouse / keyboard combo on your Xbox 360? Eager enough to drop $179.95 for the privilege? If so, then you should probably know that XIM's ready and willing to oblige. The XIM 2 module, which is supposedly plug 'n play in nature, is at long last available for ordering, though it's not quite ready for shipment.

how is this crap even newsworthy? 180 dollars for some crappy PCB to allow you to use a keyboard and mouse on the xbox?

my xbox cost me 180 dollars, why would I pay the same price for use of a keyboard. ohmy.gif

Big, huge, enormous waste of money.
Use a controller and get over it.

I just pre-ordered it. I'm better playing with my Razer mouse and keyboard than with the controller.

I don't get why everyone's hating on this thing so much. 180 is pretty steep for what it is, but if they start selling diy kits for 40 or less I'll definitely buy one.

Some people just don't like playing with a controller, I don't hate it enough to justify the 180 bucks, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who do.

What's really stupid is the fact that as of November 19 2008 with the NXE being released they could have added usb support for keyboards and mice to be used. I mean don't get me wrong I love my 360 controller but I guess I'm just old fashioned and came straight from pc to xbox and do miss my trusty keyboard and mouse from time to time. but yes 180 bucks is ridiculous to say the least.. anyone who buys this is either so rich they just like to waste money or just flat out retarded.

there is probably only 5-10 bucks worth of electronics on that pcb at the most so I just can't see how they justify the cost.

and yes I do realize that there trying to keep xbox and pc separate but it's just stupid not to add support for it.

if keeping the xbox and pc separate is a reason there is no keyboard/mouse support on the 360, than they shouldnt have allowed windows live users to play games on xbox live.
support should have been added during the update.. i agree.

its been years since i played pc shooters. so im fine with the controller. i wouldnt mind trying it out again on the 360, but ill never drop $180 for it.

Why pay so much for this when you can pickup the Max Shooter for Xbox 360 for $70 or XFPS 360 V3 Sniper Edition PLUS for $90. besides looking over the site it looks as if the "site" has been under construction since April 2008. honestly if a company wanted to sell their product, their website would undoubtedly be the first thing that they complete.

didn't they try to pawn a diy version for $50 a while ago? that would be reasonable cost.  but 180 is a bit rich.  even when you minus the cost of the controller say $40-50.  its still 150 for a bit of silicon.  and since most of the fps on the 360 is on the pc, you might aswell just play on pc.

Then you are an idiot or mommy and daddy are wrapped around your finger. You should just play PC games and get overyourself

I cant belive why in the world this would cost so much. I mean,  re-mapping keys through a USB conection is not that hard.

The only thing that these worthless expensive things do is tell the 360 that you have a controller in instead of a keyboard and mouse... It doesnt make you a better player.... if anything it makes you worse.
The difference in the time it takes you to hit a button and the time it takes to respond may only be a split second  but that split second could mean you dying or winning the game.

Its just funny at how the console gamers try to distance themselves from PC gaming and talk down about it all the time... yet want to be just like them.

The price has been set high (i think) but when taking into consideration to the XIM1 its cleverly priced.

Toolstick starter kit $30 shipped
XFPS ?? $50 (a guess im from the uk)
Wired 360 controller $40-50
PS2 extender cabe $10-15

Total $145 (and tbh i think it will be more as searching on ebay brings the XFPS at $64.99 but anyway + if your lucky you might be able to buy these locally if not then + $10 shipping dowt 1 place will sell these together)

So yes i think its alittle over priced BUT its pre-done, a much more compact setup,  far more responsive to a wider variaty of games (xim1 was only really good for cod) and apparently supports mic? yes it may be just a pcb but i think people should atleast give credit where it is deserved... months of development - beta testing,  better design to it and finally getting rid of the dire XFPS! and this isnt some big company your paying someone like me or you to pre solder this thing.

and for some people out there makes playing fps games easier than the controller if you don't agree with that then perhaps any coments about xim2 being crap based on you shouldn't use K+M on 360 be left for another thread??

great product for people that need it alittle over priced but you can build yourself saving alittle
