Have the same drive with the same problem!
I doubt it very much a certain game caused this.
My drive went downhill very quickly 1-2 weeks now doesnt read a thing.
A new laser fixed my Benq perfectly.
P.S dont bother trying the liteon laser even though they look identical in everyway and the ribbon cable fits,it will not work tried it with 3 liteon lasers known to be 100% working! smile.gif

Liteon lasers do work in Benq's I have done this myself, you may have to tweak the pot down thou as the Liteon laser was at 6.xx ohms and the Benq at 3.xx ohms.

How difficult would it be to install a new laser in the BenQ?

$15 bucks for a laser is a lot better then $40 for a new drive.
