Well i tried overheating it by loosening the screws it got into the dashboard and the 2 lights started flashing the taller heat sink got hot but i could still leave my hand on it and the shorter heat sink was just warm I'm just stating this in case it has to really get hot. One more question I wanted to do the Team hybrid X-Clamp mod but then I'm going to do the heat gun fix also so does it matter which one I do first or i have to do the heat gun fix first? Thanks in advance

Hey guys quick questions I just got a heatgun from my dad and it says on the heat gun 500 degrees and 700 degrees is that to much and if I use 500 I was thinking can I just use the gun farther away from the mobo?

use the lower setting the 500 degree setting and keep it about an inch and a half to two inches away for about 5-6 seconds from the gpu then take it off for 15seconds or so then put it on and do that a couple times maybe 3 or so at that temp should do the trick.  It could be other parts too so you can just apply that thought to whatever components you want to make sure they have the solder reflowed.  GPU, ANA, CPU, southbridge or whatever one says xbox 360.  It wont hurt can only help by doing others too, just watch out for the big capacitors the cylindrical objects and dont heat them and make sure to cover them with aluminum foil with the shiny part facing the heat gun and dull towards motherboard.

I tried this yesterday and it worked a treat. My heatgun also only had a 500'c setting and I used the tutorial HERE

Just keep that gun 3-5" away and moving all the time, I only did for 3 mins (smoke alarm in hall went off!!!) then turned over and done the back as well.

your may take a bit less or a bit more, trial and error, my advice is start slow.

Good luck
