Dvd Drive Replacement
« on: November 23, 2008, 12:51:00 AM »

I got my 360 fixed by microsoft recently (red ring of death), only to have it returned with a new problem, the dvd drive has been making terrible noises, and doesn't read disks every so often.  At first it only made noises and I didn't think anything of it, but as soon as my warranty expired it stopped reading disks.  So I thought I might invest in a new DVD drive with nothing to loose.  I wasn't sure if there was anything I need to know.  There aren't any tutorials for this up yet, and I remember from modding my original xbox that xbl pairs hard drives with motherboards.  I was wondering if there was anything like that I need to know about.  I'm not trying to mod my xbox at all, I'd like to keep xbl running for me.  I guess I'm just asking if replacing my dvd drive is going to be as simple as hooking up a new one.
