Finally!, only took them the best part of 3 years to fix  rolleyes.gif . It'll be incorporated into all standard controllers very soon I guarantee it. Although it looks like ass I'm definitely going to pick one up. I can't stand the current d-pad. It's totally inaccurate and useless for arcade games or writing messages. I'm also kinda taken in buy it being limited edition and not available to people in the US  tongue.gif .

taking the shaft from MS again.  In my opinion the d-pad is so horrible it should be a recall.  This was pointed out as a flaw 2+ years ago, why wait until now to fix it.  Looks like Walmarts got a few 360 controllers commin in for a swap when these start popping up on the standard colors.

Personally, I don't think it's that strange it is not released in the US.

In europe football is a big thing (soccer for you yanks)
With the new PES relying heavily on the D-pad, they made a special controller for it.
Since nobody in the US gives two shits about soccer, it won't come out there.

Simple right?

Besides, the US usually gets all the good stuff, like the limited edition halo console and stuff, now we have a measly controller. Let us have our fun.  tongue.gif

what do you mean US gets all the good stuff? the halo 3 SKU was released world wide, and i still see them in shops here.

I don't know why everyone is so happy blink.gif I'm angry that i've bought 4 controllers with an obvious design flaw, only to be told that if I want 4 good ones, then I must go out and buy some more dry.gif

I am disgusted that Microsoft are going to take our money AGAIN! for something we should have gotten in the first place.

They should have a free replacement program.

Here's how the final conversation went over at Microsoft, one week before the 360's launch.

Xbox Tester: Sir, I have some serious concerns about the new console.

Bill Gates: Oh really?

Xbox Tester: Yes, nearly half of the units are showing three red lights and aren't working.

Bill Gates: Meh, probably nothing.

Xbox Tester: But Sir, Most of our test games are scratched beyond repair, plus, most of the drawers refuse to open.

Bill Gates: La La La La La, sorry, what?

Xbox Tester: And the d-pad is absolutely unusable, we keep dying in most games because of it.

Bill Gates: I doubt anyone notice.

Xbox Tester: God damn it man!!! It's a pile of crap!!!!! It sounds like a jet engine and gets hotter than the sun!!!!

Bill Gates: stop worrying, it'll be fine. We must beat sony to the punch or we'll lose customers to them.

Xbox Tester: This will backfire sir, I'm going public with this.

Bill Gates: One word and i'll have you shot.

Actually I think a few got let out in to the US. I bought an Elite last week from gamestop. The controller it came with had a VERY responsive d-pad. In fact, unlike my other 360 controllers, this new one's d-pad didn't move in the pad well - it just presses in the various directions and pops back to the center. No spongy or sticky feeling to it. I'll have to open it up to see if it's an 8-way pad or just a 4-way. My other controllers were part of a launch unit bundle.

There's another pic HERE where that green colour looks even worse!. Why can't Microsoft do a limited edition controller in a colour that actually looks good??  blink.gif (I'm still going to buy it though).

there was something about 8 way direction, i guess it has pressure points on the X sides and the + sides for more accuracy, it also looks lower down to me. maybe a better sylicon is in there too

Ok nevermind. I guess i just forgot what a new pad feels like. The elite controller i have is the same as the ones in the launch unit.

obviously if this was indeed a true fix, it would find itself into all controllers world-wide.

either the "enhancements" are not worthy or else this is just a larger "testing" group until it is incorporated into all controllers...

I almost never use the d-pad when gaming, so this doesn't interest me at all. Frankly, the few times I'm using the d-pad it seems to work as intended, I really can't understand what's the problem.

What? Why aren't they releasing this in the US?

I guess we'll have to import them at a premium...

I don't think you have Pro Evo which is what this controller is for. Same as we don't have Madden and I get sick of all that news when we don't have that game.

I think if they did a full replacement people would bitch and wine and ask for a full refund/recall.

I've never experience a D-Pad problem on either of my controllers. Not quite sure what all the fuss is about tbh.
