However, the new pad is "a limited edition promotional item that is only available in Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last", which is likely to upset fans who feel the d-pad needs full-time replacement rather than a one-off patch for PES. Personally, I don't think it's that strange it is not released in the US.

In europe football is a big thing (soccer for you yanks)
With the new PES relying heavily on the D-pad, they made a special controller for it.
Since nobody in the US gives two shits about soccer, it won't come out there.

Simple right?

Besides, the US usually gets all the good stuff, like the limited edition halo console and stuff, now we have a measly controller. Let us have our fun.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

 Just because the vast majority of US citizens have no love for soccor (not me; I played on a team as a child), don't assume that we also don't care about D-pads.

My guess is MS will just quietly start putting the new d-pad in all future controllers. Like when they replaced the duke with the controller s.

im still not sure what's supposed to be so bad about the current dpad, in the rare occasion i use it it seems fine, used it in some xbl arcade games and i didn't feel anything wrong, worked fine and responsive as I'd expect

So to play street fighter 4 properly, the fix is to buy a new controller.  This update is so minor but it should have been in there in the first place, I really wish I could just return my controllers to MS and have them update them for $5 or for free.

If they're going to make you buy a whole new controller they should put something on it other than an improved d-pad, such as making the analog sticks line up so when you push "up" on both of them it's the same direction instead of off by a few angles (which totally breaks Katamari for example) or like their famous rumored motion controls.  Hope this one ships with the Arcade sku. This sucks that it's not available in the US.  Maybe one of you kind Europeans will crack one open and tell us all how to fix it?
