1. Dump the FW and open it with FWToolBox and see what it is.

2. If the Resistor wasn't there the drive wouldn't work, it's either been reinstalled or a jumper put in it's place (same thing as it's 0ohm Resistor anyway) either way something is there or the drive wouldn't work at all.

If the drive was flashed before you'll have to treat it like an ms28 since the hacked FW are based off of that one, that means you'll need a VIA SATA chipset and use the bad flash recovery method to dump/flash it.

and who the hell still takes the resistor off and uses a switch on ms28's nowadays?
