Making The 360 Quieter?

The main thing that causes the 360 to be so loud is the DVD drive. To efficiently make it quieter I say replace the current DVD drive with a Benq and make that Benq drive run at 8x. You should notice the huge difference straight away.

Is this then detectable by Microsoft when playing on Live?

Is the 360 really that bothersome, noise wise? I'll admit that you can hear the drive spin, but if you have the new BenQ/LiteOn, you can't hear it access the disc at all. Even the launch console I had was pretty quiet, except for the Hitachi clunking back and forth. If you got a newer unit, you're good to go. Hell, I even added the noisy ass Turbo Cooler to mine, and it still doesn't bother me.

Off topic: What happened to the board?  Instead of seeing all replies, I have to actually click on a "reply link" to read each one by one. WTF is up??

Sometimes just happens...
I hate this shit as well but here is  a way to get rid of it...
scroll up to the header of the page then check for the Options menu.
Open it up there should be an option that lets you change back to the standard view...
Or just copy and paste this to your address bar this will fix it as well http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=655262

The options screen fixed it. I didn't change it, so that's pretty weird it did it on it's own. Thanks man.
